ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Just make sure the external pump can feed 50-60psi and it will work fine. Youll have to plumb the FP sensor into your system downstream of the regulator as the engine requires a fuel pressure input upstream of the HP pump. Make sure the regulator is located as close to the HP pump as possible so you don't have a significant amount of deadheaded fuel upstream of the HP pump.

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Forgot about the fuel pressure sensor. I’ll have to see what that requires for compatibility.
Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Easily done with a tee, -6AN lines will be large enough for stock HP up to slightly molded. The LP FP sensor is a female thread. Part # 13579380

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
I don’t remember a wire for the fuel pressure sensor in the harness. I wonder if Swaptime tuned that out? I would think the computer will be looking for that signal.
Thanks for the part number.

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Don't think the PCM actually cares about low pressure side. It's basically a lift pump for the high pressure pump on these engines.

Russ,
Depends on the tune. Ill have to look back at the LTG vs LHU wiring. I know the LTG LP Fuel Pressure Signal is fed directly to the ECM vs in previous years the LP signal only fed the FPCM.

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Boat looks great Russ. Looks like there is a fuel pressure sensor intergral to the in-tank low pressure fuel pump. I still don't know if the PCM will require that signal as the LTG Crate Motor instructions suggest you can use other fuel pumps as long as they supply fuel at the necessary pressure and rate.
Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
In-tank pressure sensor is for vapor recovery system which you wont have installed. If you read the LTG Crate Motor instructions the inline sensor is included in the harness kit.

Yea I saw that as I kept reading. GM actually has the pin out of the PCM plugs in those instructions. I have the location and wire color and know I am looking for a 3 wire connector for that sensor. I'll see if its in the harness. Hopefully its one of the plugs I assumed was for the transmmission.

Wife and I rented a Camaro convertible with a LTG awhile back and drove up the west coast from LA to Astoria. What a jewel of an engine.

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
For those interested I have not abandoned the project. Just been real busy with work and some personal out of town trips. Starting to get back on the project now. I'll have a real update before long. I have been practicing my tig welding on some porch brackets for the camp and almost have that done. I'll be ordering the remaining sensors, components and modifying the harness next to get the engine started.

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Spent a few bucks over the weekend ordering parts. Ordered a K&N intake kit for the Turbo, MAP sensor, O2 Sensor, Fuel Pump, Fuel Pressure regulator, Fuel Pressure gauge, Fuel Filter, some AN line and fittings, GM quick connect x -6 AN adapter....and some misc hardware. Let me just say that the selection for fuel pumps, regulators, filters, AN fittings will blow your mind! Jegs site was hard for me to use to find the fittings I was looking for. If i did not type in the exact name according to the law of Mr Jeg then i would get 6,000 or more results......really....and in no particular order.

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
I’m looking at intercoolers. I know Russ has a big treadstone unit on his boat that does fantastic. I’m looking for recommendations. Person / company I could call and discuss my needs with...... that I could buy from. Don’t want to spend $1000 but I know I probably need to spend more than a $100. Any other intercooler related discussion is welcome. I need to learn some intercooler speak.
Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
I use summit to find the parts I need and then Amazon to order them with prime account. usually get a better price, but summit beats jegs by a mile when finding things.
I run CXRacing stuff on my Ecotec. No issue really... cheap but works.

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
br, what unit do you have and any idea on efficiency thru it as far as temp reduction or headloss? I think if I size a unit for 400HP I will be good. I don’t plan to mod to that level. I used JEGS because I had the app and an account. I will definitely go another route next time. It was painful.

Their IC0035

When its 90deg out my temps dont climb much above 100F still... I am pushing close to 300HP with the 1.4L now

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
Thanks. That looks like a real good price. What would be considered real good peformance? Less than 10 degree increase in charge temp? Less than 5?

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
I had a turbo 96 Camaro for 15 years. I actually used an ebay intercooler kit back in 2007, and it was on the car until I sold it last year. My IAT temps rarely went more than 5-10 degrees over ambient when running hard. I was told to use the biggest one I could fit, and it worked out perfect!FISHSTICKER wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2019 1:25 pmI’m looking at intercoolers. Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
So many different opinions on turbo intercoolers out there. Spoke to some guys at a local ricer speed shop and I’m sad to say I think I know more than them and I don’t know shit. Mishimoto, treadstone, cheap eBay..... you can find 5 star and “would never buy again” reviews on all of them... Still undecided on that.
So I have some progress.

Honk if you see it

Re: ECOTEC 2.0 LTG SWAP
I have an AEM fuel pressure regulator. It has the following connections. 1 barbed vacume hose connection , 1 1/8 npt gauge port. 1 port directly opposite the adjustment screw that you can’t blow thru. Two ports opposite each other that you can blow thru.
Here are the directions.

There are no markings on the unit. I assume the port you can’t blow thru is the return and the other two are interchangeable inlet/outlet? I was disappointed in the directions. And the directions are wrong. All three of those ports have the same threads. Oh, can I just plug the vacume port? Don’t think I need that. Or do I?

Fuel pressure regulator what I think is the return port.
