Caddy 500, 4bbl carb or Holley Sniper?
Caddy 500, 4bbl carb or Holley Sniper?
I have a 500 Caddy. The only modification to the motor is a .30 over bore when it was rebuilt. I currently have a Holley 600cfm on a aluminum intake. WHat is the opinion out there on switching to a Holley Sniper EFI kit?

SWAMPHUNTER45 will probably chime in and tell you the low down on efi and a caddy. If not PM him. Or call Buddy Branch and ask him as no one would know better than Mr. Branch. His number can be found with little Search on here.

Mr Branch put an EFI system on a hot 520 inch roller engine a few months back. Other than a pump issue he loves it.
That said he will tell you his testing would advise a single plane intake for the Cadillac as GM did when they put the system into service.
There is a new carb out that is working really well that may prove a cheaper option. The 650 annular from Edelbrock is ideal for a DD Caddy. Branch sells them and can Jet it to your build in the deal.
My experience with the 2115 intake was a modified plenum and 1 inch spacer was an improvement. If your not in a position to get that involved then get a good 4 hole spacer plate.
If you deal with Mr Branch he will set you up with everything. His prices are very fair for the tech assistance and tune labor he provided.
Regardless of your choice filter, filter, filter the fuel. Annular cards do not like debris or contaminates in their fuel.

Block off the heat cross over if it has one! Snipers don't like the heat, seen a few of them lose the internal fuel pressure regulator. Sniper might also benefit from an open plenum due to the way it picks up vacuum signal.

Buddy did up the first new 650 on my motor with the stock intake and 1” riser. Great response and runs great on my 500!
