Anyone know anything about a B-W gearbox. Like what ratio that it might be and if robust enough to last. It looks like an aircraft conversion to me. The seller has no clue what it is.

I saw this setup the other day while surfing and wondered the same thing myself - is that a reservoir or tank for gear oil?

Looks similar to a Bill Roberts box to me.

Looks like a tank for the gear oil. Must have a circulating pump also.

Thats a aircraft gearbox off a gearnosed 435,480,540 or 580 the ratio differs on all. Why would someone go through all that trouble to adapt that to a CM.

Back in the old days there weren't any drives for the car motor, one fellow (Roberts Box) as I'm told started adapting the aviation drives. Another fellow set off to build a new design called the K-Way which was the DNA for Rotator and Stinger. Stinger is still owned by that gear drive pioneers family.

From what I heard from guys who knew him and spent time around his shop was he loved the big Oldsmobile V8 and Cadillacs and wanted to get more out of them than DD would offer. Great to see how far the industry has come.

Maybe one day Sharon will jump on here and post pics from the "old days" in the shed.

The ratio was typically in the 1.5 range on the A/C conversions.
