building airjohn, not enough thrust??
I am building an 14' airjohn, i have an 8hp biggs on it and the 30'' homemade prop is mounted directly on the shaft. im a rookie when it comes to airboats so im not sure why, but it doesnt push fast enough for wat i need. I think i need a different prop but im not sure. any advice would be great! thx, Al.

Re: building airjohn, not enough thrust??
I have built a couple air johns from 14 footers and found using a red drive or some kind of belt an pully reduction drive works best... Direct drive you need bigger HP motor but still won't be able to use all the power the motor has to offer w out a reduction drive .. I currently have a paraglide motor (28hp 2 stroke w 2.6-1 belt reduction and 48" prop) and does about 35mph w me n gear... And will run all the weeds and grass you want just no dry lol... Arrow prop is definetly who you need for prop selection and they are inexpensive and great product... have had great luck.w them

I emailed arrowprop and he said i need a thirty inch prop with 14 degree pitch. i have a thirty inch prop on it and it goes about as fast as a 40 lbs thrust trolling motor. i would just like a little more speed. thanks for the advice guys. if anybody has pics of their airjonhs ide like to check em out.
