Caddellwelding your boat is looking good.

Just a word of advise, all the rivers in Oklahoma will always have deep water and current so having a splash well on a boat with a low transom is a good idea. I pulled this boat out of the Cimmarron about a month ago it wasn't set up for the rivers in OK.

I'm just curious, why such a deep radius cut in the transom? When most airboats sink, and a lot of them do, it is because they take water over the transom. You can easily have 6 inches of your prop dip below the top of your transom without any problem. I'm not trying to criticize. Great boat build. I just don't see any benefit to cutting away a very good portion of the hull where it is needed most. Even large airboat Hulls only dip down about 4 inches at the transom.

Sorry, but I don't have any pics of a splash well. My boat has a fairly deep transom and my prop is about 6" below the top.

The boat I pulled out was down by Guthrie and the river was high. I think his transom was about 18" on a 14' boat with a 350. I think you will be good if you run the river when it is low like in the pic. but you will be limited on where you can take it.

I think its awesome that you are building your boat from the ground up. When I first started there was no internet and I didn't know anybody so I had to learn the hard way. I started with a John boat with a DD Corvair motor and that boat was a death trap.

The boat I have now I started with just the hull and built the rest out of Aluminum and been running it for about 15 years.

If want somebody to follow you while you test it out just let me know I will be happy to drag my boat up.

With that square chine, he will have more displacement/stability, but it will slide like a sob! I had a square chine mud boat and it drafted an inch or 2 less than similar round chine hulls, but you had to plan every turn at speed

Guys I appreciate the comments and take everyone of them into consideration. Honestly I don't know why I cut it so low. First build foes I guess! And yes when I get it done I'll let everyone know so you can come watch and pray! Lol I picked up another rotax motor, bigger one. So I'll know what not to do that go around. Appreciate the info! Crazy to think how many guys have airboats in this area and yet everyone that comes in my welding shop acts like they just seen the first one! Lol

You would be surprised how many airboats there are in OK. I have at least 20 friends with airboats and I see a lot more on the river these days that I don't even know.

I'm ready to be out there. When I was around 10 years old my dad and I took his trailboss airboat from Dover, Ok to Old Mannford ramp at keystone one day! Good times!
