I want to think everyone that came and worked so hard to make this NARA Race possible. I learned a bunch. As many of you know I'm a young man that has never raced in any races. However I have airboated my entire life & wanted to bring racing back again. We have got off to a good start and jumped many hurdles. Their is one perfect man that walked on this earth and as I've said before his name is Jesus Christ & I'm not him. I can say one thing ,we will have races on the posted dates and we will have fun and exciting & safe time. I want to ask you a question do you want a racer setting rules or making things that work for his boats and his benefits or maybe a manufacturer that builds boats and is wooried about where his boats can run even if it gives them an advantage well of course not. I will talk to anyone about anything to better airboating airboat racing ect..

All and all I thought it was a success and things went pretty smooth. There were a few suggestions about racing of a ladder and or staging the boats for the following class. With a little effort from and input from all of us I think we can come to a reasonable compromise. If I can lend a hand in any way feel free to ask, would love to help. I also loved the location, it seemed very centralized for a lot of people in the state. Thanks George

Coverall,
I would think it would be in the best interest of everyone to make it compatible with all thus keeping the racing section open in the long run Maybe there could be a compromise and some type of elected board/panel be set up to vote on rule changes and other issues that way any intended changes could be presented and voted on .
general location was great it seemed to offer the centralized location for everyone.

just some thoughts and ideas it wouldn't be the first time I get scolded for voicing them

The races in the future will be run in rounds just like the big time drag strips. I will be the Race Format Director and will set it up to be run in Rounds. It will still be double eliminations. All boats will run in round 1 and round 2. Losers in round 1 and 2 will go to round 3. Winners in round 1 & 2 will go to Round 4. Winners from round 3 will go to round 4. Winners from round 4 will race for the title in round 5. In the next 2 weeks i will do some work sheets so everyone can understand. This will give everyone time to tune your boats and get ready for the next round. It will also turn airboat racing into professional racing. Rules for a professional racing event has to be made for the spectators and not the racers. The spectators pay for the cost of the event. If it turns into a good show, the spectators will come, if the spectators come, a good purse can be payed. We have to put on a good show.
Anyone wanting to help out can call me at 352-330-1015
Thanks, Chuck

Chuckitt I hope I understand what you're saying.

If I understand right we'll get to see a pair of big dogs run every 7th or 8th run? I think that's what the sport needs.

A lot of guys aren't going to ask their wives to sit through several hours of ride boat races to see the excitement. I admit I got bored too.

You are right airduds, You will see fast boats in every round. Over the years, the airboat racing would go good for a couple of years and then die. then it would start up again and die. I quit racing because the racers voted for the rules. Almost everyone wanted a rule that would give them the edge. Rules have to be fair but they have to be made for the Spectators, not the racers. The events will never be successful without building spectators and fans. They pay for the event. The best way to get them to the race is build your boat by the rules, run by the rules, learn to promote the event, Be a good loser as well as a good winner. If you have a good suggestion for a rules change, Make it to the rules board and it will be considered. If you want to be known as an airboat racer for fans to look up to, let's all pitch in and make it a professional sport.
Thanks, Chuck

if this keeps up the way its going i will build a race boat every decade i race something , this is looking good to me now , if its clear to me what the rules are and what a class is ,then i can build a competive boat for the class i want to run, and i think it will grow, then as many cable channels as they are who knows this stuff might fly 8)

I hate to be this ignorant--but why are the races not run like the Stock car races? Such as weight and hp limits for different classes? Now don't get me wrong-I'm asking a legitimate question-PLEASE!

WE had a GREAT time! We thought George and his clan were a class act with the experience they had and the HUGE project they attacked it was impressive all the way around. I sure haven't heard anyone else volunteering to jump on starting a legitimate racing circuit! Our round trip was 553 miles-we heard on the other side-Colinger (very nice group) who were from the Keys.

George-you really stepped up to the plate-Kudos to you and your crew.!

Thank you Lee, George is well respected for stepping up and taking on this task. Without a promoter like George we would not have Airboat Racing. A promoter takes on a huge task locating places to race, getting insurance, setting the rules in motion and even using their own money. It always has to start out with some volunteers to help with planing and putting on the events. One person can't do it. The racers have to start with a small purse until THEY develop the sport and bring in the fans. If the racers put on a good show, the fans will come and the purse can get better. Until then we need to pull together and enjoy the races. Thank you George for all you do.
Thanks, Chuck

Awesome job NARA- :D looks like things are starting to sort out- Good idea Chuck ! :D

Looks like airboat racing is back!

One thing is for sure- you model what works

Daytona 500 and Pesi 400

One model is the swamp buggy races in Naples. Build a track and have 3 races a year there. They have around 5k people at each race and they are put on well and profeesionally- always somthing going on and keeping the crowd interested! The only problem is if you put more than 3 races on a year at 1 location the crowd tends to get smaller-making gate admission smaller. People get bored and burnt out if you keep racing at the same spot. The racers will ALWAYS show and be there-even if there are 10 spectators
Look at the hill races in lakeland a few years back- People flooded the gates at first but then after they tried to make the races each month the crowd died out!

No more than 3 races a year and it will be a success (in same spot)

Not to say you cant race in other spots of FL- The crowd will always be huge if you have races in different locations!
Check out parks with lakes, fairgrounds and speedtracks.

Or maybe some landowner on here would lease some land for pennies to the NARA

Right man, right spot, and excellent timing. Getting Mr Chuck involved in this sport is a good move by NARA....Ya'll give him some time to iron out the wrinkles, and rest assured he will do you a good job. For ya'll that don't know Chuck personally, he is a good man, and as you can see from his posts he is very knowledgeable....Good luck Chuck and NARA.

See everyone at Swap meet and I am sure there will be a lot of good ideas to kick around. Pm or call if you have any ideas or can help. George says Pit Boss I say Organizer :D :D :D :D I promise not to make the A/C guys pit by C/M barges :dontknow: :dontknow: :dontknow: for a price 8) 8) 8)
