Post by GIMAMMOTH »

I traded my 5ton mud truck for this SOUTHERN ENTERPRISES boat yesturday its a glass deck over step hull with a injected 0540, runs like a top an is in verry good shape.. after running it im going to do a few things to the bottom an put some steelflex 2000 on it since thats what was on it b4..

does anyone know what brand hull SOUTHERN ENTERPRISES used to build this boat?

I run boats more than trucks now an i just couldnt aford to run that truck like i used to... the new owner is guna do gearheart axels scs case an 84'' r2s its going to be even bigger badder than it was..

i live so far from any big mud hole so its just hard to have a truck thats 12 foot tall an 10.5 wide. Boats way cheeper..

Looks sweet bret, first thing we need to do is get that power shift off there. There's another 10 mph in that boat!

Deffently a lot cheaper to run airboats than trucks like your old one. Good looking boat. I would also put hand layed wire ss tied on also. It can't be safe without wire n it. That is a good way to get hurt. Tree branches can go right threw their and make your prop exsplode andhurt someone bad. Keep us posted on the stuff you do,post some pictures of the wire when you get it done. It would look good if you painted ther wire the same color as the hull.

Ya I know back in the day they didn't put wire on the cage. But that boat isn't from back in the day. That is just crazy. Props just cost way to much money not to have wire on the cage. That boat & prop would get distroyed if u ran the trails on the St. Johns. The willow trees corners would end up right threw the prop. Hell I bet some of the big branches would make the boat come to a complete stop. Good looking boat thow.

Wire on the cage was more restriction for the prop. That's a s fla boat where you don't have to worry about branches or sticks goin in the prop

ill be doing hand layed wire on it in the next few weeks, pulling the cage an motor so i can flip the hull an put a few coats of steel flex.. ran the boat all day saturday at lake Kissimmee an it performed awesome. plenty of power

just trying to figure out if i want stainless wire or coat the wire to match the hull..

Only problem i found with the boat was last night while i was cleaning out from under the deck as i climbed inside to move a life vest a big water snake about gave me a heart atack .. i about killed my self jumping out of that thing.. lol after a better look an a 3 foot stick i could see it wasnt a moccasin but when i was in there face to face i wasnt sticking around to find out..

needless to say this step boat scared the $$$hittt out of me.. lol I dont like snakes..
