Cowboy,

I noticed in one of the pics of Bud's boat that the stacks look miss-matched.
I have a matched set if you need them. I would be willing to donate them to the cause.
Just let me know.

Nice Job Cowboy thanks for the phone call it was very cool hearing her run those straight pipes sound good Let me know if I need to call Diamondback when you decide you are going to take it by there, I going to photograph the Reno Air races this week and I gong to get to listen to some very serious A/C engines run nothing like the sound of a highly modified V12 or Radial engine Rare Bear is my favorite

Cowboy,

Keep those pictures coming. It's neat to follow your progress.

I bet Bud loved to hear that boat run again!

10-4 Boblee.
I'll try. Actually Rickk took this picture for us.
Image

Glad he did, cause I left the ridge in a hurry to get Bud's boat up to Cocoa yesterday.
Forgot my camera.
The project is underway, and Bobby is on it. We will be helping him with this project as much as he will allow. Glad I got to meet him yesterday. Always good to meet a fellow airboater like Bobby.

So things are looking real good, and Bud's boat is gonna be fixed up right!

Mike Thurman is gonna give the 0320 a look over, tune-up / spruce-up, and git it looking good. Hope to link up with Mike this weekend, and let him take the engine to his shop.

Please donate to the Bud Marquis fund y'all.
Every little bit will help Bud, and his boat.

Thank You, Cowboy, for the leadership on this project.

Have you started a wish / want list yet" We have new headlamps and a gig coming to Bud from Jeff Leserra. What are some other things that could be needed? I see a VHF-FM antenna on the cage....could he use a new radio? Lowrance is in for that one, if so.

10-4 Bigdaddy,
The radio ain't a bad idea. The one that was on it was just laying in the bottom of the boat for I don't know how long. It's wasted.

Things I know we will need right now are.

The rudder needs straightened up. Been thinking of asking Brewster if he wants to do that.

The engine:
Runs good.
Needs cleaned up and painted. Needs a new alternator. Needs new plug wires. Needs a mechanical fuel pump, or a new faucet electric pump. The boat has only an electric pump now. (no mech pump) If we leave it like that, the electric pump needs t be a good one for sure.
Needs new valve cover gaskets. We are gonna take the engine to Mike Thurman. He is gonna perform the oilchange, and tune-up that he donated for the auction on Buds motor. The other items mentioned above will run extra cost, and I'm sure we will have to come up with some $cratch to pay him for it. I just need to meet with Mike, and let him see the engine, then figure out the details.

The trailer:
Needs some structural repairs. "2 crossmembers" and side board bracket replaced
Cleaned up and painted.
New tires.
New lights and wires.
New Bunk boards, and carpet.
New winch cable or strap.

I'll get some seat templates, or star board cut outs, and get those to Bishop.

Cowboy

I'll be back in Florida from Tennessee late this coming week. By the weekend I'll try to PM you or email or telephone and see what I can help with on Bud's boat.

The fishing here on South Holston lake is a disaster. The lake has been drawn down even more after two drought summers in a row. The polution is so bad there are signs at every ramp not to eat the fish from this lake. From a pristine freshwater fishing lake to a virtual cesspool in 40 years is totally inexcusable and unacceptable.

I am trying to get some of the locals politically motivated to take the lake cleanup and pollution cleanup on as a project and get the State involved. Everyone is so damned apathetic it is unreal. Never seen folks in my life so negative about doing anything positive for the environment.

Still have several lunch and supper meetings before I leave Monday sometime. This is an environmental tragedy and nobody seems to care.

I'll chip in and help out some on Bud's boat soon as I get back home. Lord knows you and others have helped me on mine.

Proud to be a southern Airboater.

Scotty :)

Just thinking out loud here....
maybe we should start a fund for "boat repair cash"
What wasn't used could be added to the "general fund" after repairs are finished

I hear ya Scotty, that's a shame to hear about that mess up there.

Yeah Grant, or perhaps people can just give to the fund we have now, and we can give Olf reciepts for parts and materials.

Whatever everybody thinks works best.

Cowboy and Grant, I can make that work too ..... folks could send a check to the Robert Marquis Fund, but on the purpose line where you normally write 'donation', just write in 'boat repair'.

I can start a little separate ledger for that. It would all still be in the same deposit account, but would be marked to be withdrawn for boat repair as needed. That way, folks who have donated just for Buddy and Nancy will have their gift go where they wanted.
If anything is left over, it would stay as a contribution to the general Fund. If it comes up short, well than it's just short and we'll have to raise a little more or get donated parts. I'll personally donate two new tires for the trailer.

Tell me what y'all want to do and I'll try to make it happen.
