I completed my poly today. Whitebear you were right! You get good with it and then bored with it . Just hope the oysters don't chew it up and I have to repeat this every year. Don

Im getting ready to put new poly on my 15' aluminum hull I got 2- 10ft. pieces, should the seam go to the back or to the front and should I trim the edges at the seam or just butt them up tight together and add extra screws to support the edges?
This is the first time ever doing poly replacement, I want get it right the first time.
beco822, If you are within driving distance of Melbourne Fla. Wade at Airboats inc. (Hamant Airboats) Has the Blue Iron Superslide Poly. You can call him at 321-259-6998 for a price. Its less than if you order it direct and pay for shipping. I think he gets $290 a sheet. But call to confirm.
I took the boat out for the first time this morning with the Blue poly on it. I Don't know how it is going to hold up for durability. Someone who has been running it for a while will have to answer that question. but for the first run, I could tell a difference on how slick it was. I have two Airboats. My 15x8 hull has black poly. On this hull I had white poly that I replaced with Blue Superslide. So after running the Black, White, and Blue, The Blue seems to be the slickest. Like I said this is only the first run on the new poly. I ran down a gravel road, ran some brown grass, and some green grass, and climbed a levee a couple of times. So far so good, I like it.
Thanks Fab Werx. John C. What type engine were you running, A/C or C/M? When I get it back together I am going to try some dry. So far, I have only crawled up on the bank and run about 10ft., then turned around and dropped back in the bay. Thats with no poly. Maybe the Blue Iron will give me more confidence ( with a 1 1/2 ton come-a-long, a spike and a long strap). Just if you get in trouble down here you're on your own. Once I try it, I'll be alright. Make sure you have PVC and some type of lubricant, tire shine or armor all or I bought a quart of surfactant or just dish soap. Lube it up good if stuck(sand won't do you any good though generally) and try to get a few pieces of PVC under there, and you generally won't have to use the comealong....
SeaTow isn't a bad idea for 100 something a year IF you have a tow location close enough...
Remember green means sticky.... Never understood that till I was stuck.... dry means slick IE dead dry grass/brush etc....
