Testing new stingernental boat

Postby dantheairboatman » Tue Dec 22, 2009 12:36 am

Worked all day at Stumpjumpers airboats completing the boat today. We will be firing it up for the first time tommorow if all goes well! We have three diff. carbs and fuel inj. to test We also have three diff. gear ratio's to test and three diff. props. We will then take the boat to Garrett's at airboat power shop and put it on the new smart trailer . This is a complete chassis thrust-dyno for your airboat. This setup has load cells located all over it and loads it onto software for complete anlalysis of wieght to thrust, cg's, sound all mapped on computer ect... we will be doing static and dynamic testing. Looking forward to some good hard science!

Now your talkin. It's always been about 'the combination', and now you can build
the optimum setup right off the bench. Good for you. Get Felber involved .... he's
a Wizard at looking through a combination and seeing the weak spot.

Glad to hear you got her all done. Unless you plan on keeping what gears you're running top secret, it would seem like you're opening up a new market niche for yourself. I'm glad to see that people are still trying new things within this industry. I know a/c motors have had gear drives before this, but this will make it easier to have what gear you want, with a strong, reliable and not so noisy gearbox. Best of luck with the testing.

Be sure to let us know how she ran and take some pictures!

Dan,

Your boat looks great! You have obviously put a lot of time and creativity into the build. If it runs half as good as it looks you have a winner.

Thanks to you and Garrett for the help today. I am really pleased to have everything dialed in and installed properly.

I didn't know about Stumpjumper Airboats in Mayo FL until this week. Chad is a super nice guy and their shop is excellent. Highly recommend those guys. They were eager to help in any way and they certainly didnt have to. (They let Dan work on my boat at their shop - no charge!!)

that is bad to the bone i cant wait till i get my new go540 done what a new stinger 1.77 cost just in case i dont want to use thet factory aircraft box. its amazing how a 300 hp aircraft motor with a real high reduction can spin the same prop the same rpms as a 550 hp car motor with a twice the reduction.
