Airboat Overhaul

Postby one_shot » Wed Jan 26, 2011 2:59 pm

I bought this boat about 1.5 years ago from Florida and brought her to Texas. Being in college, time and money are limited, but I finally got it all done. It might not be the best looking airboat, but me knowing my friends and I overhauled it is priceless!

Before

Image

First thing was getting her sandblasted

Image

Next thing to do was building a grass rake

Added 2 stringers and walkarounds

Image

not as good as tig welding, but it should work

Image

new gauge box
Image

cage and engine stand needed a little work

Image

finally time to paint

finished product

my girl friend and "belly_up". both of them helped me on this project

Kaleb

Where were y'all last weekend man?? Pintails all over the place... haha, but you'd have taken more than one shot I guarantee... I killed 4 with 4 shots. But I missed more so that ain't right....

Boat looks GREAT!!! Ready to build my rake? Grins.

Love that color you chose too, should match the buckbrush pretty good IMHO.

Guessing the mig works fine from the looks of it, might have to get that model from you and buy mine at some point. Its only time and money right...

Let me know when your ready to work on your boat. I can build you a rake if you want no problem! I got the welder already so no need in you buying one. Also got the hook up on the aluminum :D

He had a professional blast the boat for him, I believe the guy had a pretty big blasting rig and compressor.

I had it professionally done. I never saw the sand blaster, but I would imagine it's some industrial type since the guy sandblasts basically all day long. Costed around $200 give or take a little to get the boat, gas tank, and rudders blasted. Well worth the $$$
