That prop looks identical to one I gave away recently. I purchased it in 1979 for $275. or so. I'm sure yours is sound based on its appearance. A new wood prop today is what, $500 plus? Further the Banks construction is superior to anything built today in wood, IMO. It's only worth what somebody is willing to pay. What length and pitch is it? It should be worth $350. to $400. easy if it's a popular size.

model 66D-29 stamped into the wood
i thought the 66 was the year it was made
but i just measured the total length and it is 66.5 inches from tip to tip
so maybe the length is the 66 not sure what the pitch is.

Is that for an airboat or airplane? From the picture it looks like an airplane prop.

Covairs turned the direction that woud alow the use of old aircraft props. The mud Hen with a Covair used shortened metal props. that were not airworthy. Precision Airamotive had a prop. shop and supplyed the metal props. The wood props. were mostly from Banks.

My dad has one from his first airboat he built 35 years ago. You are right about Banks Maxwell being top of the line. I think they built aircraft props back in WWII.

66x29 numbers on the prop refers to 66" diameter and 29" pitch

Greg, this thread is over six years old.

Chick just responded to a dead thread, which brought it to the top.

Well, I'll add to it then.

My first airboat back in 1980 was Corvair powered with an aluminum prop.
