Sensinich R vs Whirlwind whisper tip?

Post by FishinCoop101 »

These propellers are pretty similar in design, was wondering how close in performance these propellers are?

I have a Whisper tip by Whirlwind on my boat. I love the prop! Great push. Only problem is I have a small ding on it, To repair it I am atleast a month out of the water sending it back to whirlwind. Not To mention the shipping costs. Sensenich is in Plant city and I hear they are really fast on repair and pretty cheap. I also hear good things about thier props. Whirlwind has been great to deal with and they do stand behind thier product the only problem is they are in California. Just my Opinoin and food for thought. Good Luck! :dontknow:

My whispertip hits hard I like it alot.my friends run the r blades they hit hard as well.the big difference between both we have seen is the sensenich is more rigid.I can flex the tips of my whispertip about 1 inch.

Whisper tip was introduced before the R blade, BOTH are great products in my opinion.

u may wanna research that a little im pretty sure the r was first i mean i know the q was out before the 72 whisper tip so i imagine the same is true for the r and big whisper but we have an 80 whisper tip on a play boat and it pushes like a beast

I have hardly ever met anyone who spent the money to buy either one of them .. and then proclaim it no good LOL so based on the best scientific data available .. the wallet factor ... I declare them both winners ... and thats the truth .. like it or not LOL they both are great props

Sensinech = I-beam core structural fabrication
Molded in nickel leading edge supposedly reducing micro vortices of air which reduce efficiency
Company based in FL which carries product liability insurance
All composite construction
Claimed by many ride boat and racers to be of the best all around power band and RPM pushing props available
Super rigid construction, new short hub design
Just bought one last week (80" R)
Slightly more expensive than the Whisper Tip in same blade and length configuration

Whisper tip = hollow construction
Molded on (not in) leading edge
Multiple component construction (vs. Sensinech R)
Also very rigid, but I don't know how it compares to others
Also quiet considering the job it's doing
Not sure about liability insurance
Comes w product warranty and has good service, though company not in FL
Comparable performance
Slightly less expensive (can't say cheaper, we are in the wrong hobby for that)
Also pushes like a badass.

Who cares which was first?? Would you ride on the first space shuttle? Ok then.
I just looked into both props and each has it's benefits, though because I could justify the slight additional expense, I went with Sensinech.
Both are good products, IMHO.

I have a 80 inch R Series on my boat. Good prop. I have a Whirlwind WT on my smaller boat. Good prop as well. Would recommend either but what I like about the WW prop is the Armor Coat finish on it. It stands up much better to U V rays, cleans up much easier and in my opinion looks much better while not having the small pits in the finish that the Sensenich has. It's not on WW's web site, but it is $100 per blade. Worth it.

Pretty excited to hear that Sensenich had a new coating coming out! Not that I would replace my current R series prop. So excited in fact that I thought I would call them. They told me that they do not have a new coating product in production and there using the same process they have used for the past few years. So what gives? You know something they do not?

Whisper tips perform just as good as the R's do, and they are less expensive, and you can remove your prop without messing with the pitch, which is nice ! Both are exceptional products and do a great job, everyone just finds their own way of saying that on these threads !
