Cutting the tips of warp drive props?

Post by JR350 »

I was wondering if it was possible to cut an inch or so off of the tips of damaged warp drive? and if so, how should I go about doing so?

Thanks,
JR

I did it out in the swamp with the saw on a leatherman knife. I ran it about 2 hours to get home and then 2 or 3 trips after that. It seemed to do fine but the guy who sent his gps through it got me 3 new blades.

Sorry, this doesn't answer any of your questions I just thought I would share. I have never done it any other way so that is my experience. I know that it can be done, has been done, and it works great if they are even. I might try a band saw??

:proud: Yep ya sure can!! Use a die grinder with a cut off wheel and start at the nickle edge and cut back to the trailing edge. :rebel:

The best way is to mark them all first and then use a band saw or chop saw!

yes i agree measure all the blades and the shortest one dictates the measurement of all then mark & tape just inside your marks with masking tape and start your cut at the nickle my preference is a chop saw because the blade spins fast and you can clamp it. and according on condition of the blade you can coat and even balance weigh them with rustoleum flat black brush on paint the oil based type and they'll look like brand new :thumbleft:

After the cut, it is extremely important to weigh each blade. They should all weigh the same or u will get excess engine shuddering and unwanted vibration!
