For a 12 foot boat you still need to stay light as possible. Especially since the Robicheaux is generally a little on the heavy side to begin with. As for options, maybe a PE150 220GPU engine or an aircraft O470 maybe. I am a fan of the O360 though. For automotive engines on a heavy 12 foot boat? Maybe a Small block Direct Drive engine but you wont perform with the aircraft engines unless you build it up some. Waterthunder just proved he can build decent DD LS engines, but they will be over your price point in comparison. Y0u could build a usable stroked SBC 383 for Direct Drive but you wont save a lot.

I say rebuild the O360 and enjoy it.

If you went to buy a 0360 from a builder you would be at 7k if not more. A big plus is you know what you will have when it’s done, a good engine that will last a long time. As WB said I am also a fan of the 0360, great motor.

Wally Moore at Moores aircraft engines in orlando. cant go wrong. he will take your motor in trade and you just swap motors with ya if he has a 360 built up right now. warranty and the whole nine yards. Wally builds a first class motor and the prices are more than resonable

X2 on the Wally Motor, best in the business! You won't find a more honest guy nowhere and no one builds a better motor. I wouldn't hesitate to put his airboat motor in a plane.

I have a H-model 160 with a whirlwind whisper tip and it does pretty damn well. Depends on how heavy your boat is. Mine runs dry with two people and cooler full of adult beverages and gear just fine. in the back of you mind you will always wish you just had that little more from the 180 but thats the choice you have to make. Sounds like a good deal on the 160 and prop but you need to know if its a true 0320/160 not just some motor someone threw together and calls a 160. theres a big difference
