Banana Boat , what do you suggest it be made out of so that it not be considered a dinosaur? Wood or aluminum or composite carbon fiber? Remember this is plug boat. If you want to call it a dinosaur then maybe it is a fastasauris. How bout that?

Yup, it sure looks nice.
How much freeboard does it have the stern/gunwale? It's hard to tell in the tall grass.
Doesn't look like it will float a big block and a gearbox. Any plans for another model with more freeboard?
Again . . . she sure is purdy.

Re: The bar has been moved. Newly designed 14' step
Deano, just from initial testing i believe this will float a big block with gearbox fine. As i wrote earlier in the post it floated my SV0540 plus four passengers in the rear two of which were in the rear seat and two standing against the cage. We do however have plans of creating two moulds one of which will have even higher sides. There is even discussion on going longer as well with an additional one.
Bruce, you gotta be able to turn your head around to find spray. It is free in front and i dont believe with the limited power we have on it now it would ever reach the speeds it does if it weren't free.
Thanks for the comments and criticism guys. A little healthy debate every now and then keeps everyone on their toes.

Re: The bar has been moved. Newly designed 14' step
The shipyard Im at does a lot of carbon fiber and composite work.
I have a 2010 fiberglass 13'6" hull.
when I brought it into the yard, they called it a 1950's P.O.S.
They could built it twice as strong and half the weight.

Re: The bar has been moved. Newly designed 14' step
Banana Boat, they're right and we do carbon fiber/kevlar and composites. It is all about using the right resins to properly wet out the fabrics while using lightweight core materials to increase the distance between the laminations. It is also about proper orientation of the fibers to maximize the strengths of the fibers. By increasing the distances between the laminates -when a perpendicular force is applied, one of the layers can be in compression and the other in tension. The result is a composite that is much stronger than than the same fibers back to back with no distance between them.
