Swapping hulls...

I just picked up what appears to be an older JB hull. I'll be getting rid of my 13' glass hull and going with this 12' aluminum hull. I measured my rigging and it is 1/2" to 1" wider (total width) than the T-bars they're gonna mount to. I'm just looking for y'all's ideas on how to mount my original rigging and take up the 1/4" - 1/2" gap on each side. Should I stack washers, run some wood strips in between, etc. Just looking for some ideas. Thanks guys!

I assume you have angle at the bottom of your rigging that's bolted to the stringers.

In reality, properly sized washers stacked and bolted up with quality hardware would probably work.

I would be concerned that the rigging would eventually bend the TBars outward and crack welds and twist up the bottom of your boat.

At the very least, I would weld a cross brace at the bottom of the legs from left to right (if it doesn't have them) to prevent them from "spreading."

Probably depends on how much ground pounding you do.

:? I didn't think about it bending the T-bars outward! Yes I have angle mounted on the bottom of my rigging that runs the whole length. It's also 2"x2", so it'll still be sitting on the runner with weight applied to them. I'm not sure if that makes any difference...

when I did mine I cut the angle off the bottom and welded new angle side to side, bolted some angle to the stringers, then set rigging down on it and welded the two together. It was easy

Mine was short rather than long, but here's a pic. Would still work and it would definitely be safer than washers

Ohhh nice lol. I was just looking at my front yard and how I was gonna do it. I'll give ya a call because I've got a mig welder but not sure what plug outlet u have for 220v. I may try to get started on it this weekend. I would like to get it done before the end of May so I can make that poker run. My girl is having family come down and they all want a ride.

Radtech that's not a bad idea.. I may have to look and see how much of a PITA it'll be to cut it off. You know what, I think u just gave me an idea! Maybe I should get 2x2 angle to use on the stringers and mount it to it before I mount the rigging and instead of having the angle bolted to the outside, facing in...put it the other way to where it's bolted to the inside facing outward. That should provide a platform to weld to. I'll have to get more measurements and see what that'll look like.
