Belt drive to Gear box

Post by RONNIE JR. » Mon Aug 04, 2014 11:22 am

Looking for a little advise. I recently changed motor in my boat and went from a belt drive to a gear box. The problem I am having now is that my props are inside my boat approx. 11 inches. I was thinking about raising my motor a few inches and maybe cutting 2 inches out the transom. Any advise would be high appreciated. Many thanks in advanced.

What kind of prop are you running?

I'm running 80 inch sensenich S SERIES. I have plenty of room at the top of cage. I went from a 496BB to a 572BB. I went to gearbox because of the torque.

I'd say run it like it is. Seen a pile of boats with props down that much. Try it b4 u start cutting! Hope u switched blades.

I run mine 10 inches deep into hull , angled transom and its 1 1/2 past bottom of transom . Try what you have first , maybe pretty close.

Not sure I understand this 100%. I assume you mean the belt won't handle the torque?
