12 ft cottonmouth 0320 rough ride

Post by 99squeakbox » Sat Oct 11, 2014 7:29 pm

I bought my first boat on here a couple months ago. Boat runs great and Is a lot of fun. The only problem I'm having is that when I get the boat up on a plane either by myself empty or with the wife and a cooler at about twenty mph in shallow or deep water the boat starts to hop hard. To the point I have got to let out of the throttle. Any idea? I know the motor stand is adjustable but which way should I adjust it. The boat didn't ride on its nose at all it rides on the rear third when on a plane. Any ideas would be great. :rebel:

First thing to check is to take a long strait edge and check the bottom lengthwise looking for any low spots or high spots. Really should check for any cups etc before ya get into adjusting the engine angle or trim tabs. :thumbleft:

You will see a rocking point from transom edge forward, you want this area dead flat all the way across, a slight concave at center is recommended but not more than 1/16" 12" forward.
I never finish anyth,,,.

Prop end of the motor down will push the front end down. But as stated if the bottom isn't right it's hard to adjust motor for ride ability.
