Good thread...I love lite airboats.

This older pic of a Hawk hull (from Waterthunder's gallery) comes to my mind first, but would love to see more pics of lite boats...if anybody needs any help posting them, let me know.

Does any one know of any light hulls for sale not to expensive. I just want one to run the swamps with, I don't need a hull for racing.

Plum, does that Ricocohet you've been running look similar to this one as far as the hull design?

Never run one, but that's a fine looking glass hull IMO.

I would call Paul Jackson AKA Woods and Water he build a very nice light hull. Marty Bray, Jimmy White, Ricochet, Bullfrog ? All Build a good hull and will build it the way you want it. If I was building a 4 banger I would talk to Ricochet and Paul.

Also IF you want to run poly or are going to beat on it do not get a foam core bottom.

Think someone could build a 12' laser hull that could be held over ones head like that?

Never run one plum, but I really like the way it looks for a lite boat.

My retirement boat's gonna be a straight valve 180 on a little hull like that...single seat, slick bottom. Ain't there yet, but it's close enough to dream about :)

Ditchjumper01, One Eyed Gator mentioned "All Build a good hull and will build it the way you want it". I agree with that.

...also, the hull is just one component of a lite boat build. Beefed up rigging can weigh you down too. Hell, my boat runs the hill better when I clean out my bow once a year :)

I have a 4 cylinder I can't even run the hill, or even turn on wet grass. And I have light weight rigging.

Too much boat boat (not the brand) for the motor IMO. At least for what I like in an airboat.

I think it would be safe to say 'me OR dave' are heavier than that hull. :)

THIS IS THE INFUSION PROCESS I AN USING TO BUILD MY BOATS. IN MY OPINION IT IS THE BEST WAY TO BUILD ANY COMPOSITE PART. IT WILL YIELD YOU THE LIGHTEST STRONGEST PART MADE HANDS DOWN! IT IS AN EXPENSIVE PROCESS AND VERY COMPLICATED PROCESS TO GET SET UP TO DO. I ONLY BUILD RACE BOATS AT THIS POINT. KEEP IN MIND WHEN YOU GET SOMEONE TO BUILD YOU A LIGHT BOAT THAT IT WILL NOT BE AS IMACT RESISTANT AS A HEAVY BOAT, SO DONT BLAME THE BUILDER WHEN IT DOESNT HOLD UP AS WELL AS THE TANK YOU HAD BEFORE. IM SURE I COULD BUILD A RIDE BOAT AS STRONG OR STRONGER AND 40 PERCENT LIGHTER THAN THE STANDARD HAND LAYED FIBERGLASS BOAT, IM JUST NOT SURE I WANT TO BE IN THE FIBERGLASS BUSINESS!

THIS IS AN ALL FIBERGLASS RACEBOAT BUILT FOR A FRIEND. IT IS A 100 PERCENT RACEBOAT BUT IS STILL TOUGH ENOUGH TO WALK AROUND IN AND RUN THE HILL WITH UTMOST CARE NOT TO HIT ANY HARD OBJECTS. IT IS THE LIGHTEST FIBERGLASS RACE HULL THAT I AM AWARE OF AND LIGHTER THAN 99 PERCENT OF THE CARBON BOATS THAT I KNOW OF. IT IS A FULL SIZE BOAT THE SIDES HAVE NOT BEEN CUT DOWN AND THE DECK IS FULL SIZE.
