Launching Boat in Soft Mud
Launching Boat in Soft Mud
To get to the water we have to cross about 30 feet of very soft mud. Maybe 2 -3 feet deep. We pull the trailer with a big truck and camper...we don't want to sink!! Portable ramps or mats ? Thanks for any ideas.

Couple lengths of pvc pipe. Lay out two lines and hammer down lol
Re: Launching Boat in Soft Mud
Try 5 gl of water and some dawn. PVC is also a good idea.

Is this the only place you can launch?

i'm not sure i understand the question. here's how u load/unload my airboat.....
TO UNLOAD AIRBOAT:
1. unhook boat from trailer winch.
2. put truck into reverse and get moving a few mph.
3. HIT BRAKES TILL BOAT SLIDES OFF TRAILER. repeat if necessary.
4. pull truck/trailer out the way.
5. hop in airboat and drive off.
TO LOAD AIRBOAT:
1. hit the bank with authority and drive to trailer.
2. let people off boat.
3. drive airboat onto trailer.
4. strap down airboat.
5. go home.

The loading can also be done different: I drive up the embankment, over to the trailer, and up onto the trailer. Then I let everybody off. Either works.jopete wrote:i'm not sure i understand the question. here's how u load/unload my airboat.....

Where you at? I just launch at a ramp.
Re: Launching Boat in Soft Mud
You are correct Sir!!!! I bring my old daddy with me alot and it's easier on him if i let him out before i drive it up on the trailer.mojoe wrote:jopete wrote:i'm not sure i understand the question. here's how u load/unload my airboat.....

i sure do like just parking on the side of the camp and not having to tie the boat off in the water overnight.
Re: Launching Boat in Soft Mud
Are you trying to get the whole rig (camper/truck airboat and trailer) across the 30 feet of mud??? If not, just dump the airboat off on the ground and drive it across the mud to the bank and continue on your way.
