Suggestions for grass rake fabrication design

Post by lucy »

Getting ready to fabricate a grass rake for a fiberglass hull. Primary purpose is for pushing water when entering from "the hill" but also for knocking down weeds.

I'm looking for design suggestions in regard to:

Shape
Style
Material type and thickness for strength
Height
Light mounts

or anything I didn't think of due to lack of experience

The design I was going to suggest, and the design on my boat, is similar to the pics posted above; I highly suggest doin your supports that way. As far as material I just used conduit.

Any one else willing to provide pictures/ideas on what they did or what they would do differently?

A lot of it depends on why you want a grass rake. If it is for show, get a short rake with an LED light bar on it. If it is for coming off steep embankments into deep water, get a very tall solid rake. If it is to beat the brush, make it a rounded open frame.....

Like everything else in airboats, there are many right ways depending on your intended use and terrain.
