What Do You Haul

Post by Quackcephus »

When you're out just ridin' for fun what all do you haul in your rig? I typically always have 5 lifejackets, 2 throwable seat cushions, an anchor, a paddle, a small tool set, a small first aid kit, fire extinguisher, some rope, hearing protection, a beach umbrella, sun block, bug spray, a snack bag, toilet paper, a couple of towels, 2 collaspable chairs, a well stocked ice chest, a small bbq grill & sometimes I even throw in the E-Z Up for extra shade. :bounce:

Dogone Quack , hard to get away from a full combat load huh ?
I also carry most of what Quack carrys cept a paddle . You ever try to paddle a airboat ?
One valuable lesson I learned recently--------NEVER LEAVE THE RAMP WITH LESS THAN 80 GALLONS OF FUEL !
A cooler fuel of cold compresses helps ya drift down river but dont gain you any points when your wife picks you up after the fuel AND the cooler is empty !!

Ever try to PULL an airboat in a river? I have 2 paddles, they were the ONLY thing that got us back to the ramp without some incidents in the river once. The johnboat could not keep the airboat straight in the current...... They are a bitch, but always have paddles and Quack even saw me use PVC once....

I pulled one once upon a time with my ol' longtail go-devil rig... that 23hp was one wound up mofo. I surprised I didn't "hand grenade" the motor.

I carried a few sticks of pvc in my old airboat after gettin' stuck... & I mean REAL stuck. It was a great day on the river & let me say my 2 pardnuh's were real impressed.

funny enough the "johnboat" was actually belly ups mud boat with a non long tail whatever.... it just could'nt quite do it. But bless his heart he came out after dark when I sunk my airboat!! Can't ask for more than that. Especially after the game wardens didn't offer a tow or anything.

I don't carry those YET.. but intentions are high, just need to get some other things done and then find a dry box that would hold things like that and a few tools all in one to keep them out of the salt. Some wire and crimp ons and electrical tape goes too! And silicone.

I never forget a ziplock with some spray glasses cleaner and a dry towel. Nothing more annoying than water spots on my glasses from spray or thrashing fish. I leave the rest up to Boat U.S.. They have airboats, I hope?

depends too on how long you can wait and how available I am.... I'm basically about 2 hours from there from my barn or maybe a bit more if you get in a really big bind...

Should be a link here with all our contact info that I need to find back, print and laminate and stick in the boat permanently...

If you're a SA "site supporter" you have access to the "Airboaters Helping Airboaters" forum... somewhere in there is a Texas page with a lot of folks contact info.
