You COASTAL boys especially need to WAKE-UP!!!! I can't possibly stress this enough. There are only a few that are stepping up to the plate on this one and this is where you need to be UNIFIED in a big way!!! If you don't get involved now, you won't have places to worry about taking your airboats, bassboats, flats boats, or any other kind of boat that doesn't include manual labor to get there to do your fishing and duckhunting, they'll be GONE!!! Then you might find the time to whine about it, cuz you'll be staying home a whole lot more instead of doing what you would rather be doing. You need to do this NOW!!!... No if, ands, or buts, about it... no excuses... Geez... I'm in FLORIDA and even I can see whats gonna happen and its not even my playground!!!

On the other hand... if the WPP get their way, I'm sure you're wives will be all sorts of happy that you're HOME and not out hunting and fishing... just think of all the "Honey-do's" you'll be able to get done!!!     I'm telling ya now, you will NEVER get them ALL done, she's just gonna keep adding to the list!! Do you REALLY want that??? Just think about all that for a minute... then get off your butts and do something about it!!

OK... getting off my soap box now...

BRAB, Red River guys -- TEXAS airboaters ------VOTE IN THIS POLL!!!!!

Do not ignore this attempt by the anti's to shut you down on your waterways. YES, i't starting in the coastal area -- but virus spreads and this virus
will spread faster than you can say Giddyup!

we can tell you sad stories about folks in Florida who ignored efforts like this and now are faced with either not being able to run in an area or only being able to run during certain hours!!

It takes less than a minute to vote and at some point, the anti's are going to see that we've caught on and we don't want this poll to turn back around and bite us in the prop!

Happy to pm folks who are going with some talking points

AND you should be demanding to be allowed into the room -- this " invitation only" junk is elitist and designed to keep us outside and then they will say we never showed up! This would not be allowed in FLorida -- it's unAmerican to have an "invite only" group to discuss an issue which most probably will at least be floated as a draft proposal by TPWD...

Voted, And yes I will be there in Jan. I dont know too many people on this forum but I know a lot of the poling commanders that pole these shorelines and gripe about airboats. These people have 30,000 graphite boats and want all the flats to there selves. These people have no more curtesy on the flats that your kayakers do. When they see you catch fish here they come. I can idle my airboat up in the shallows and sight cast redfish from the bow while iddling. Theses poling fishermen have witnessed me do this and it pisses them off because they pole for an hour to catch one fish. I idle for 15 min and can have a limmit of redfish. This organized group is led by high bankrolled poling fly fishermen. These people have lots of money and use these kayakers that swarm the coatal waters weekly as there soldiers. They first started with the sea grass.....so we stopped running in the shallows.......now airboats........they continue to get what they want and use people who cant afford the equiptment that we have as there troops to sway by numbers Texas to ban the ecofriendly Airboats from recreational activities.

I will be there to stake my claim in January.

I have been asked to talk about airboat for approx. 10 minutes at this meeting. I'm still concerned that its Invite only and the deck will be stacked, but at the least we may get to be heard. I think though that this set up promotes division between the many user groups, When the main focus should be for or against managed areas.

PLENARY SESSION SPEAKERS
> Dr. Larry McKinney, Harte Research Inst. / Intro. / survey results > Robin Riechers / TPWD Coastal Fisheries Director / demographics
and user trends > Legal / TPWD & GLO / bay jurisdiction explained
Habitat Issues: > Faye Grubbs / TPWD / RBSSA seagrass protection efforts > David Newstead / CBBEP /Audubon / bird rookery decline
Angling perspectives ( discussions of specific angling methods and their reqirements / user conflicts experienced /safety issues)
= 10 minutes a piece:
> Guide / Angler - A (CBGA pick / “family” guide)
> Guide / Angler - B (kayak )
> Guide / Angler - C (wade fishermen)
> Guide / Angler - D (tournament angler)
> Guide / Angler - E (airboat )
> Guide / Angler - F (poling - sightcasting)
Precedent: > Fred Herling Everglades N.P. / Florida Pole and Troll Zones > Andy Danylchuk / U. Mass. Amherst / Core Angling / conservation
and angling. Conclusion: Larry McKinney / Next workshop day discussed approx. 4 - 5 hrs of speakers / questions

1 .5 day meeting, i still never got an invite, and they are going to give a total of 60 minutes time for all 6 groups "represented". Smells like a setup, especially after Bonnie told them if you get so many replies you move to a larger venue was ignored.

Actually surprised and pleased that Hogheaven was invited to represent airboaters. Surprised being a airboater was invited at all. I'm pretty sure he has a good understanding of LHL and surrounding areas which the WP&P is hoping to close to motor traffic. Did I expect to be invited, No. Will I attend, Yes. I really am curious to see what the actual attendance will be and group of outdoorsman that has been selected for this so called "workshop".

Less than a year ago, I was very reluctant to believe a small group of individuals would be able to gain any support or momentum towards so called LIFA (low impact areas) in Texas. After realizing they have a strongly "connected" individual who is behind the scenes leading them through the correct channels and commitees necessary for consideration, I'm concerned. I asked myself, how would a small group of kayakers be able to pull CCA, TP&W, Coastal Bend Bay Foundation, and others to meet on a unpopular subject. The answer is Larry McKinney, Ex. TP&W "Director" of coastal fisheries. Mr. McKinney is now working at the Harte Institute where the meeting will be held and has a front row seat as "moderator". What a joke!!!

What pisses me off the most is the support of organizations (CCA, TP&W, etc.) for the workshop. It blows me away organizations would call themselves a sponsor of any thing that has limited access or participation based off a online survey. Get ready folks, I hear a train ah comin'.

I have not gotten a written, or email invite. All I got was a phone call asking for someone to speak on behalf of Airboats in Texas. I dont know why they would start letting people know so person can plan... personally if the topic to be discussed is wanted to be attended by more persons than the venue can hold, a change of venue is in order.
