Still need airboat volunteers for the upcoming crab trap cleanup in Trinity Bay. If you are willing to volunteer, please let me know so that we can plan for how many airboats we will have. The cleanup is scheduled for Feb-19 starting at 0830 and ending at 1300. The airboats are requested to show up at 0800 to discuss routes with the Game Wardens.

Re: Airboats Needed For The Trinity Bay Crab Trap Cleanup Fe
Steve I'm going to be working the clean up here working out of Conn brown harbor still waiting for e-mail from TPWD for time and date to be finalized guess I better send another e-mail.

Re: Airboats Needed For The Trinity Bay Crab Trap Cleanup Fe
I've been waiting too RE an update to post a statewide deal on here and our email list.
Of course I"ve had only a little response on the bay grass planting too, but seems like not many folks want to volunteer to help these days, they just wanna ride, drink, hunt, fish, but not do any helping. Damn shame too. And i'm not saying everyone, just saying it seems harder and harder to get folks to volunteer for anything.

They want this to be an organized event with some logistics planning. So all the airboats that will participate, will meet at the gathering point (Ft. Anahuac Park) to plan routes and take on volunteer passengers.
We really need the airboat volunteers, so if you are willing please let me know. We need to have an established # of how many airboats we will have in advance, to be able to plan accordingly.
Please let me know if I can count on you.
Cody--Thanks, I will call you soon.belly_up wrote:Steve or Jeff, i'd be willing to ride along if ya'll could use the help.

Steve if they don't want to volunteer they can donate gloves or a gas card to help ease the expense of others any thing to help out even stay at the dock to help unload the traps. Come on people!WE have to get out there and be seen and do our part or lose our rights to be on the water all together!!!!

Bruce--good point! Thanks for initiating things in your area.
Currently TAA only has 3 confirmed volunteers (including myself) for this event taking place on the Trinity Bay.
Lonewolf--Myronja - Thanks for stepping up and helping out with this one!
Folks we need more boats for this event. Some people have been talking a big game here lately, but are awfully silent when it comes down to actually putting out.

Speck--That is the best news I have heard all day!
Is your contact info correct on the latest TAA roster that was sent out?
I believe we can use any and all that you can round up. I will call you and we can talk the details.
I plan on presenting them a roster of boats that we will be providing, along with available spots in boats that are willing to take on their volunteers. They said that they would bring life jackets for their volunteers, but it would not hurt to have a couple extra handy in each boat just in case they run short.
Thanks
sh

Steve it would be nice if TAA had a big turn out on the entire Texas coast. big enough to have a wright up in some local papers to show our support and concerns about the environment and ecosystem of our bays. This would help the Airboat image and the Bays !!!

Keep pounding em! Its one date that we can sacrafice and take a ride and do something good.
Next year might be the year to arrange a coastal ride somehow, and combine it with crab trap cleanup.

KP and Speck,
Can you guys send me a PM with info on who the other possible boat volunteers might be. I need to find out who is planning to bring their own help(passengers) and who is willing to take on some extra volunteers.
Thanks for the help!

I will try to start getting confirmations by the end of this week and beginning of next. Volunteers, please be thinking about your plans on bringing anyone along with you and if you would be willing to take on available volunteers in your boat. I am going to try to provide an accurate list to the logistics planners with how many boats we will bring, along with about how many of their volunteers we will be able to utilize.
For anyone that is thinking about volunteering and that has not contacted me, please let me know if you are planning to attend and how I can get in touch with you.
Jason Allen of Lone Star Boat Works has generously provided a $50 VISA gift card that will be given away. We will have a drawing from the names of all the boat owners (excluding myself) that volunteer for the crab trap cleanup. I would like to personally thank Jason for this generous donation.
Thanks,
sh

Hey Shiggs,
After this weekend this is what i have come up with....9 Airboats at the minimum confirmed including me and Myronja. My son also wants to help, he has a shallow water jon boat but if not he will ride with me. Some of the guys are not TAA members so maybe with a little help we can get these guys signed up. Waiting to hear from you soon.
