HuntingBigun, I was trying for a little dry humor. Most folks just don't realize how far it is across West Texas and they don't have airboats out there to the best of my knowledge.

Alright, I can’t stand it any longer. We have a fellow airboater that needs help. Not only is he one of us but he is also serving in our armed forces to protect OUR freedom. Unforgiven is not a Florida or Texas airboater but an American airboater.

I had the privilege of meeting him and his lovely wife a couple years ago when they came to Florida to buy his boat and can tell you they are good people! There is no doubt in my mind that if someone else needed help they would be there.

Like many of us they could not buy a new boat but bought what they could afford. Being in the military they live on a tight budget.

There is no question, because of the remote location, he will definitely need help. Many of you on here have said you would help if you could and I believe that.

I have spent many hours racking my feeble brain trying to come up with a way to help. No one individual can afford to drive hundreds of miles and pay for the gas to get there.

Surely there is someone within a reasonable distance that would be willing to help if the rest of us will cover the cost. I see where over 1500 SA members have viewed his post and many have said they wish they could help.

My suggestion is simply this; locate someone qualified and willing to go retrieve his boat and the rest of us can cover the cost without breaking anyone.

Money is tight for me as I’m sure it is for many people but I’m willing to offer the first $50 toward a fund to retrieve his boat.

Tell me what you think and if you have a better idea, post it up.

Also, if someone in the Texas, New Mexico area can help, if the funds are provided, let us know.

I for one am not willing to just stand by and see him lose his boat while he defends our freedom!
Let’s get busy on this and get it done!

skinnypockets, You are talking about 1500.00 to 2000.00 dollars for fuel, lodging and food. Damn hard trip to boot, at least for an old man.

I'm 700 miles East of El Paso near Corpus Christi, have a very important meeting tomorrow, and LSBW has my airboat. I'll gladly pitch in on the money, or if he's not out by Friday I could attempt to get him out with my bay boat...I should be able to get to him as long as the waters 18".

Just a thought...has he tried contacting Border Patrol or the Sheriff?

I hate the situation he's in, and believe me if he were only a few hours away I'd be posting pictures of his boat back on the trailer. I don't think anyone is being selfish...we don't know where he's at, and all live several hundred miles away.

Ya'll can follow what's going on in the automotive only forum under the title "Sunk". We are up to $1200 in promised donations and looking for someone within driving distance of Elephant Butte N.M. willing and able to get his boat home.

If anyone in that area can help an American Soldier out of a bind, we will cover their expenses along with home cooked meals and lodging.

Anything you can do help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Rich :old_glory: :old_glory: :old_glory:

Thanks FlatsFisher for your reply. I understand what you're saying and don't believe for a second anyone is being selfish.

His boat is sunk in the river where it meets Elephant Butte lake in N. M.

I will post more as I learn more. Rich :old_glory:
