My news sources say that the river rose around 26' in about an hour!! Wow.
What do y'all need? Is there anything we can do to help? Don't be shy. If we here in Florida can help we'll try to put something together ..... OK? Let us know.
BB, the offer stands ....... if there's anything we here in Florida can do for y'all let us know.Brotherbob wrote:We have had 22" of rain at my house in 30 days.
Good thing is the drought is broke , bad thing is ever'damn thing is flooded and its killed a bunch of folks.
Hell I'd be happy to just be able to run my boat but the river I run that's normally 2 ft deep is today 24 foot deep and rolling like thunder.
From now to Dec. 31.Chaseh wrote:Since my texas boating trips look like they all getting cancelled, when's the best time to head to Florida and ride?
Ain't it interesting how y'all never hear from FEMA or Al Sharpton when you live in a Conservative State and it's a natural disaster?Brotherbob wrote:We appreciate the thought Olf Art but its all good and getting better by the day. I put our river camp back together today and soon I'll bring n some equpiment to rebuild our air boat slide. Lots of Texan's lost homes and and families but we just have to clean up and do some dirt / rock work.
We saw a 25' rise in the Brazos river in a few days.
Noticed that! Also just a bunch of neighbors helping each other without asking, makes my heart feel good.Olf Art wrote:Ain't it interesting how y'all never hear from FEMA or Al Sharpton when you live in a Conservative State and it's a natural disaster?Brotherbob wrote:We appreciate the thought Olf Art but its all good and getting better by the day. One inch of rain on one square mile is equal to 60 million gallons of water.FlatsFisher wrote:To put it in context...I heard our weatherman say we've had enough rain to cover the state of Texas in 8" of water. And that was a couple weeks ago.
128,918,400,000,000 gallons is a lota water...kinda like watching our national debt clock.Olf Art wrote: One inch of rain on one square mile is equal to 60 million gallons of water.![]()
Little wonder the creeks and rivers rise after a heavy rain.
It sure is. What amazes me is that we as a Nation haven't yet learned to manage our rainfall. We let it run through gutters and downspouts, spill it into the street so it can flow to the nearest creek or river, and then pay some utility company to gather it up and pump it back to us!FlatsFisher wrote:128,918,400,000,000 gallons is a lota water...kinda like watching our national debt clock.
You can go to YouTube and see several setups folks have done, from private water reservoirs to a series of 55 gal. polyethylene drums ..... all designed to capture rainfall. It's a good read.rbjscott wrote:Olf Art , Just learned something. Pretty good plane.
I've been watching the water temps in the Atlantic and the Gulf. It's way too early in the season to have water temps as warm as they're showing right now, so me and my little squaw may be headed your way one of these days to duck a hurricane.Brotherbob wrote:I thought there would be NO way we could get more rain this summer! I mean this is Texas by God and its supposed to be 100+ deg and no rain in sight!
Just my luck I have 4 18 wheeler loads of rock and base at the top of my air boat slide/ramp to do repairs and equipment rented....river came up 12 ft over night!
I hope it passes and dont flood everyone but the lakes are full and so are the reservoirs so it can get ugly if it does not let up.
It takes a flood to break a drought but lord have mercy let the rain stop.
