What kind of Airboat are you guys running in south Texas
I'm looking into buying Airboat to use in the lower Laguna madre for some fishing and hunting .. Just wanted some feedback of what kind of boat you guys use to run in south Texas ... How big do I need it to accommodate 3 to 4 in total... Thanks in advance

I would look at 15 to 20 ft Alum hull.
American Airboats in Orange Tx. Should have a few .
I like 3 seats up top and a bench down low .

I'm thinking of an 18ft but what engine would be good enough... If you guys fished in deep south Texas .... Some parts its deep to get to shallow ... Usually around the dock n so .... The bay really doesn't get that bad with big waves of course if it's windy it does have some rough chop

I run a 15x8 GTO and love it, just be sure to get a good wide deep hull, Ive had mine through some water that I would not wish on my worst enemy but she made it through just fine, keep in my the longer the boat, the more motor you will need, I personally love the size of my hull, not too big or too small, good luck with your search.
And both the comments about American Airboats and Lone Star are dead on, they both build great boats

I fish PM as well. Do a lot of kayaking and also interested in getting an airboat. Bought a 12 footer last year that came with a locked up 4 banger with a reduction drive. Lack of funds have left me at a stand still. Debating to continue with the airboat set up or replace it with a 22hp mud motor.Southtxfishing wrote:Anyone on here that's from deep south Texas.... I would be happy to help you get more info on a new or used airboat for the Tx Coast. I hunt and fish the same areas and take pride in building boats for Texas!
