Dan have you ever fired a Larue? If so how did you like it?KR23 wrote:Tony, if you can get a colt, get it. I have fired hundreds of thousands of rounds through colts and they have never let me down one of the reasons I am hear today. S&W15, knights, and h&k are some other good one. I love my 416, but the price tag on those is crazy. The guns above I personally have fired tons of rounds through, that's why I recommend them. Today I read about the core 15 and the DB m4, just because I was thinking about getting another 1 and supporting the airboat family, but I have a problem buying guns that I have not used before, or tested.

Picked up a basic ar M-4 deal w/ a flat top rec and standard front sight. It's a Palmetto State Armory and has a neat duracoat finish on it. Paid $800 and figure it's better than 800 in the stock market b/c I'm willin' to bet I can pull $3k for it in 6 months if things keep on.
A good friend of mine bought a Core 15 today and said they told him his was built last night and the counter was people 2 deep. Ol' Norm made a good move there.

i know your pain. I'm right handed and left eye dominant. Dad had a hell of a time teaching me, trying to figure out why i was trying to throw my face over the gun to shootOlf Art wrote:Yup, that's it. Another fun one is being taught to shoot skeet with both eyes open...being switched up, i could hit for a while and eye fatigue(i guess) would set in and start missing, instructer said my right eye was trying to take over after a while. so i shoot a shotgun left handed with only left eye open

So true! The rifle you chose should reach out there to at least 300 yards, but if you drop a robber or someone that is threatening you in any way 20 feet to 300 yards from your front door, you got a big problem with the law, even though you may be right you still have big problems. AR,s are cool, sexy and bad azz, again I will keep my 700 Rem 7mm Mag so I can reach out and touch them and my short barrel shotguns and lots of 00 Buckshot so I can make big holes through the doors and walls.Comanche-pup wrote:Even the hunters need to keep attentive! The comment was combat weapons, unless you go back to the natives with bows, all firearms were invented for combat, not hunting. A lot of hunting weapons of today are used in combat. Remington and benelli shotguns, pistols, Remington 700 rifles! We all got to pay attention. My boys pellet rifles do the same damage to the paper as my AR, so we need to pay attention! Close attention

There are a # of AR platforms that are good to go. Depends on what you want to pay. Our Wally world even had a Colt LE for around 900.00 and a Sig for 1050.00. I bought my stag for 650.00 used but not abused. You can find a variety of cal also. 6.5 was mentioned I also have 5.7 x 28 in an AR57. 12 ga shotgun are out now. I was looking at a 338 Laupua last week but out of my price range for the moment. 50 BMG Beowulf for the thrill. Do your home work.

Re: AR-15?
I have a Rock River and I have built 2 Palmetto State Armory guns. I love shooting the build guns. I did a poor mans trigger job and cut the springs to much and couldn't get a reliable primer strike. So, I upgraded the trigger springs and all three weapons are ridiculous at the range (110 yards) using standards sights. I picked up the stripped receivers for under $50 each. I think $40. But, I had to pay a $25 transfer fee.
With the upper and lower build kits I was in just under $600.

Re: AR-15?
The Larue Is one of the finest AR's on the planet they are very very accurate especially the 7.62 model but they are expensive there is another rifle you guys should look at and I prefer over my AR because it uses the AK gas system and it is adjustable and it is the SIG 556 I have also found it to be every bit as accurate as any standard AR I have shot and it uses standard AR mags and best of all the one I have comes with a 1 in 7 twist barrel so I can shoot the 75 gn and 77 gn ammo in it
