decent price for car motor boat

im looking for a car motor boat ..gear drive or belt.. with poly..just a average family boat..not a show boat..is 8 to 9 grand about a fair price ?

depends on many things. I would assume that the average "in good condition" car motor boat with reduction would be at least 10k. If its powered with a better engine, 2.68 box, 3 blade prop its probably worth more.

If I see a good hull and rigging with a gearbox and prop for 10 or less I try to buy it, Problem is you never see any!

Depends also on condition of hull upgrades, glass or aluminum, etc.. I'd expect to pay in the 10k+ range u can prob pick one up for 8k that needs some lovin

I have learned everytime something needs loving it costs me more then if I spent more money and bought something nicer. No doubt spending less in the beginning translates into spending more in the end!

Take your time and look at a lot of boats there are some duech bags out there buying junk and cleaning them up and selling them as low time boats. I'm very disappointed by some of the dishonesty I see so often. If you see a boat you like ask the locals about it everyone who airboats knows the history of most local boats!

Yeah if you are planning on finding a boat and using it to cruise your family around then it will have to be stout and reliable. unless somebody's life fell thru the floor I'd say you'd have to be in the 15k range and above. But hell this is planet earth, so ya never know what you may come across tomorrow..

13' big o new 330hp 350 less then 10hrs new belt has a 72" power shift but needs more prop but does good with it decent poly 8500 obo motivated seller

Might be a good boat posted above, might not, but worth looking at. Whatever you get, be sure and demo it with family or equal weight as family. Lots of tired or poorly set up boats that won't run dry, be sure not to get one of those. Unless you are a skilled mechanic, if you get a boat in that price range, (actually any price range) you need to have the funds available to do a rebuild if it blows a week after you get it, when buying used, you don't get a warrenty, and often you gets somebody else's problems. Shop, shop, shop, you can get some good buys out there, you can also get sucked into buying a lemon, if not knowledgeable, ask for help on here, lots will offer to meet you and look it over and demo with you. Not a bad deal. 330 hp on Big O, should do good dry. Hey, if it blows up in a week you still have a nice ride. Cheapest motor to build.
