Is that motor going on that deckover you've had in the classifieds?

2 blade "R" or whirlwind whisper tip should do well with that motor and box combo. Feel free to contact any of the prop manufactures - all of them produce great products and strive for top notch customer service to all airboaters. There are several threads on cams for these engines if you search for them. Nothing wrong with running a carb on that setup either. You should have your self a good rig when your done 8)

I would do a little reading there is a lot of info out on cams. Article indicates that most after market cams do produces more HP and torque but over rpm an airboat motor usually turns.

I know you can not believe everything you read. Check out the article below. Just food for thought.

We a 99' 5.3 on a buddies boat with a 2.68 and 78" Maximus. thing was way over pitched but was a tractor would tun a 42. Boat was and older heavy alumitec deckover.

Gonna a 2.55 box and building a cage for a bigger prop. I was very impressed with the bone stock 5.3 and got great of fuel consumption.

If it was me, i would definitely get a custom cam, hardened pushrods, and change the valve springs at a minimum. I use Cammotion for my cams. Let me know if you have any more questions

Couldn't agree more. Just recently went to a 2 blade ngr 80" on a similar setup. Great performance all around.

Is that ls 5.3 a d.o,d,/afm motor? if yes, be prepared to spent money on lifters, cam, delete kit and you will have a good start.

My Holley 600 worked well. I don't see why even a 500 wouldn't work well after a tune up. no sense and spending more on gas :blackeye:
