I'm building a new boat and am looking for help/opinions/experience with how to setup my seats the boat is a 14'x8' jimmy white marsh master classic with a 500hp sbc 2.5 ballistic box and a 83" 3 blade k going rear driver boat is strictly ride fun boat I want to set it up with split singles rear and either split single front or a triple front my question is what would be the best way to set up the rear seats I way 240 lb and I know being a gearbox boat it's going to torque to the left so should I make it a center steer right drive or will I be okay with a left driver seeing as the hull is pretty big? Thanks

I had a 13x7ft with left hand operator and it torqued bad to that side (would just about roll over from a dead stop in deep water) with the 2 blade super wide I had. I had to work the stick to level it out on a plane. Wasn't a big fan to say the least...

You will probably be better off than me with your hull dimensions and a 3 blade but then again your blades area about 3-4inches longer.
There are plenty of 14ft boats running the side by side seating in the rear and a similar setup.
A few will probably chime in.

Scottyroll how did you fix the problem? That's what I'm worried about mine doing I've been seriously considering a right side operator to counter the roll just trying to get some feedback before I do anything

I fixed the problem by blowing up the engine and starting from scratch! Lol.
I now have an inline two seater front operator in the works on a longer and perhaps slightly wider laser style hull.

But don't get me wrong, it's not like it was unbearable or anything. Just another handling characteristic of an airboat to be conscious about.

If you are riding with a passenger next to you of equal weight you will notice an improvevement even if only a small one. Perhaps just a single rear operator and double upfront would suit your needs, or will you typically have 4 riders?

To be honest you could argue any configuration but at the end of the day you need to just weigh it out and figure out what you think will suit you best.

I'm setting mine up the same way, two singles in the back with the stick in the middle and driver on the right to counter act the torque roll when I'm by myself. But my hull is also only 12x7... I like the idea because if I have to get down and grab something off the bottom of the boat, the passenger can easily steer the boat at an idle. And if I'm bow fishing, I can just get up out of my seat and the passenger scoot over to take control while I bowfish.

you shouldn't have a problem with tq roll on an 8 ft wide hull. Yes it will be there, but you will not notice it near as much as a 7ft or 7 1/2ft wide boat. My last boat was a 15x8 Hamant, big block/rotator with an 82" 3 Blade super wide. Side by side front driver with a console in the middle. Tq roll was not a problem with a left side driver.

I have a 15' JW hull with a 700hp BBFord, with the same seating package you want. I drive on the left side. Yes you can feel the torque roll but it is nothing to worry about. Your motor is lighter than mine so I don't think you will have an issue.
