My father-in-law put a new BBC with an OX-Drive 2.55-1 turning a 80" 4-blade "R" at the 3.5mark and he's turning 5300rpm WOT, any guess as how much HP. he's putting out?

Re: NEW BBC HP?
There are 14 different "BBC's" that have been produced over the years ( not counting the aftermarket)
Have no idea which one he has so to just guess.....I'll say 2000hp at least!
Seriously though, which engine does he have, how's it built? Without more info, it would be guess work.

Re: NEW BBC HP?
Don't know the builder, but it was built to go in a "Tractor Pulling Truck" but they never ran it, and the guy needed some money and now its on an airboat, and we are trying to guess by the RPM and gear ratio and pitch what its making.
Re: NEW BBC HP?
can you post the displacement on this motor? bore, stroke, cam specs, carb, all that jazz, must be a torque monster to spin a prop like that or the cage gap is small causing the prop to cavitate, I have a dyno tested 593hp airboat bbc 498 ci with a 2:1 belt drive spinning a 3 blade ngr 80" dia right at the 2 mark or a little under, motor holds 590+ torque from 3500 up
