Airboat Drone Video

Post by mmarrotte » Thu May 12, 2016 12:38 pm

Hey everyone, a couple weeks back I took my drone out on an airboating trip with my uncle and got some cool footage. I edited together a video and have shared it around a bit, but I thought I'd share it here to see what you all think of it.

Here's the link: https://vimeo.com/162926798

This was my first time out with a bunch of air boaters and you guys are one hell of a group; super nice, fun and laid back! I'm considering working on a bigger video project about air boating, but I need some people with some interesting stories (you run a shop, you had a crazy encounter/experience, you're really involved in racing, etc.).

If you have any cool stories, hit me up! I'd love to hear about em.

By the way, this my first post in here, it's been cool following along with some of you all so far.

Thanks!

Very cool video Mike. I can't get enough of drones shooting the scenery around airboats and the places that only they can go. :old_glory:

That was my nephew , he came down from Virginia and asked if he could bring his drone . I said hell yes and so glad i did. At one point we were cruising 28 MPH and that thing would be right on our tail, without slowing down the boat he would accelerate the drone and it would pass us like we were standing still. Aside from being a great pilot and videographer the 4K camera takes great video and stills. My nephew is trying to get enough info and people in the airboating community together to possibly make a pilot show and have it picked up . Ya'll know how the world loves " reality" shows . He works in the business and has some contacts that are showing interest. If it gets legs he will be searching for some local builders, historians, riders, repair shops , etc to make this fly.
I wish him luck and will try to help where i can .

He can't sell it unless he has a real FAA pilot next to him while droning! FAA put a big uncle sam thumb on drone videos for sale Dec 21 2015. If the Poster still reads this, I would have done more fades and less cut and paste. Video looks good but way too many short cuts in it! Experience says 2-3 batteries and hours of editing for the 1.5 minutes, not to mention the oops factor off missed shots.

I fly all over Kissimmee with my drone. Its not listed on the FAA app B4UFly. My drone won't let you take off in a no fly zone. And I know of 2 other drones that fly all over Kissimmee. The Avon Park jets have to stay above 500 feet. And we are only allowed to 400 feet

If you run DJI, it's 5 miles from a airport and 2 miles from a heliport! FAA! The real FAA! Unless your using old firmware? I think pre 1.6 updates?

Your app must be glitched :old_glory: when I just opened it up way over half gardener marsh and all the way down river to bombing range is in red that means restricted area .if its letting you fly there good luck because according to new rules any law infprcement officer can stop you and sieze your stuff fine you and maybe get you banned from owning one .I would love to fly mine there but it is way to expensive. To get taken away for flying somewhere that is lit up like a Xmas tree on no fly map .good look hope its just glitch in app.oh and just looking at map doesn't show you type on where you want to fly if you type in lake wales or camp mack you'll see it not to mention all the little wanna be dirt air strips all these once a year pilots got mapped out with faa. They are everywhere :old_glory:

The 500 ft thing for those jets. I've seen them so low you can almost see the pilot

My app is the FAA app. I will stick to it. Yuneec's are real hard on NFZ. And you can't even turn the motors on when in 5 miles of a A or B class FZ
