nice buck bro - congrats!!

He'll cut your throat, baby, stick you in the back, drive off in your Cadillac.
He's more trouble than you think, he'll kill your sugar, leave you in the drink.

Nice buck, really nice gun. Lots of character. Can't say I have seen a flint lock with a red dot before.

Old eyes and I hate wearing glasses when I'm hunting they are always in the way or fogging up with the red dot I can hunt with a traditional muzzle loader and not wear glasses, here is a trail cam picture of him and one at the cooler

Re: Yesterdays Buck
Thanks guys it was a good day for me but I will have to admit I did not think it was going to happen so fast it was a bit of a Chinese fire drill in the stand when the buck jumped the fence and I realized that he was a shooter, I am still amazed that I pulled it off with a perfect shot dead center of his right shoulder, when I shot him he took off like a rocket and my heart sunk because I thought I blew the shot and I was shocked that I missed, I was so relieved when he went down, I spend so much time practicing with the rifles I hunt with just so I make a good and ethical shot and not wound the animal so when they run like that I had a brief moment of panic lol

Re: Yesterdays Buck
George, that's the reason I quit deer hunting years ago. It was a real foggy morning in the Daniel Boone Nat'l. Forrest up in KY and I had walked in about a mile from where I'd parked my truck when this beautiful big buck walked out onto the road and just stood there lookin' at me. I froze and then slowly started to raise my rifle (20 ga. slug barrel, sabot slugs) and he was still standing there so I took the shot.
When I hit him he bolted but it was very rocky and up one ridge and down another. I tracked him as long as I could but finally wore out ........ he was a better man than me. I made up my mind that morning that I would never injure another. If I don't know that I can drop 'em I won't take the shot. Nice to know you feel the same way.

Thanks Ken, I felt I had made a good shot so that's why I was so shocked when he ran
I totally agree with what you said If I can't make a good ethical shot I won't take it

But you have to wear it if you want to see you know. Otherwise you will find it hard to target your prey.Sniper wrote:Old eyes and I hate wearing glasses when I'm hunting they are always in the way or fogging up with the red dot I can hunt with a traditional muzzle loader and not wear glasses mobilier design pas cher, here is a trail cam picture of him and one at the cooler
