No pictures to show but progress being made. AFR installed, wiring complete, left header installed, right header getting second bung for the wide band O2 sensor, ECM will be here Friday. Just might hit the water this weekend!

I would love to have a crane truck to help with the lifting, You shouldn't have any trouble getting it back together. Don't forget to count the tools.

It has the small canister mufflers. Actually work really well.

So, first day on the water went well. Need more pitch for sure. Engine spins up real fast. Think the ECM is going to need more calibration. AFRs were a bit high, although the gauge was all over the place. I'll check the spark plugs and see how they look. If they look good, I'll re-calibrate the wide band and check again. Image

Turns out the AFR was correct; plugs show a real lean condition. We didn't have the fuel pressure gauge at the shop last week when we did the test run. Going to throw it on and make sure the engine wasn't starving for fuel. If I have good pressure, the ECM goes back. Hope they can turn it around in time for Labor Day.

Because it was the first time out on the new rotating assembly, I kept it pretty conservative. For the 2-1/2 hours or so that I put on it, ran 3,000 - 3,500 RPM most of the time, hit 4,000 a few times and right near the end of the day, ran it up to 5,000 for a couple seconds. The spark plugs are pure white with just a little bit of carbon above the insulator.

We plan to be there but not sure about the barge. Need to sort out a lean condition with the engine.

ladyblackwater wrote:Diggin your ECU can't be remote tuned? The only way to truly tune it correctly is doing it running and being under a load.
Unfortunately, that capability does not exist (at least that I know of) for MEFI 6 ECMs. There's only one person doing tunes and he's in California. If there are others that are doing MEFI tunes, let me know. It sure would be handy to have backup. To tell you the truth, I'm half-way ready to dump the MEFI completely and go Holley. I just need to do some additional research to see if the Holley system is compatible with the knock, oil pressure, O2 and temperature sensors on the LSA.
