Re: HOUSTON TX AREA
ADVISORY: Just came back Tuesday from areas North of Spring Tx. Had detours to get close to staging launch points. Approaching from West needed detours. Regrouping for trip south around Beaumont/PORT Arthur.
Latest info says GAS is harder to find. BEFORE you go
Make contact with reliable group officials to avoid long detours.
Those who can't go there is much that needs doing.. Find someone travelling with a boat and hand them a prepaid gas card..
Bless you all that have helped.

Re: HOUSTON TX AREA
I'm bringing plenty of supplies (gas, food, water, diesel) to stay self effiecent for 4-5 days. We'll also be bringing battery power tools to help where we can with that. Hopefully going to pull out of Central FL in the next couple hours.
Ringneck, I sent you a PM about contacts.

I just got back from out there and it is one big unorganized mess lots of people helping from all over the country and and a good many of them don't have a clew what they are doing and there getting into trouble and having to be rescued its a logistical nightmare and the small towns out away from the big city's are having to fend for them selves because all the attention is on the big cities, and we also saw a lot of flooding in Louisiana as well right now they have more than enough Airboats out there the big problem is getting them to where they are needed, lot of the main roads are flooded are flooded and its very difficult getting to where you need to go

I heard on local Florida news that the tx gov tweeted please dont cancel your tx reservations or conventions?
Texas is huge but that tweet alone speaks volume's.
Now I wonder what Scott will do with what Florida has coming up the channel at it?

Re: HOUSTON TX AREA
Well, I got to Florida to pick my boat up and then found that they had so many flat bottom boats that they were over whelmed with boats now and also had the Navy there and said their problem wasn't rescue but shelter and water for the people. It seems that southern airboat had alot of willing and able so maybe we should get together and form a group as southern airboat that does rescue and relief for disaster areas on call thru FEMA. They will setup contracts where they use you when something develops and you move your people into the area under contract with them for x-number of dollars per unit per hour ,day or whatever. I'm not sure what is required as far as qualification to receive a contract with them but I do remember Katrina and the contractors that were setup with FEMA then had contracts to pull campers to disaster areas for $8.00 a mile and of course they hired people with trucks for $1.65,$1.75 a mile and made out like bandits or you might say crooks, but my point is that it is possible to setup in advance with FEMA for the long term as a group but I don't know whether you have to be a company, corporation or whatever. It might be worth checking on and maybe we could make money and make southern airboat more money than would ever be needed to keep this site up and going and make Rick job more enjoyable on here . Lola. What's your thought Rick?

I'm in East Baton Rouge right now. Can't get the Cajun Navy or Tx rescue to confirm me in Zello

Re: HOUSTON TX AREA
I hope no one took my post wrong and thought I was insinuating for us to make money during peoples time of need but I have worked these disasters before and it is ten times simpler to go in under contract and help due to everything being coordinated and you knowing where your going in and that you have communication and fuel and backup for you would be surprised at the rescues made getting unorganized people out of jams that were there to help.

Re: HOUSTON TX AREA
we made it through to Beaumont on Friday, and and got hooked up with Cajun Navy. the Govt has been no help. we are working back channels to get help to people who have not seen any assistance since Sunday a week ago. We were in a nursing home yesterday where they had now power for a week. FEMA, the Guard, the cops and EMT didn't give a rats ass. We delivered 4 tons of supplies yesterday.

Re: HOUSTON TX AREA
I made it over there and it was 100 times worse than Katrina, the damage is over a lot greater area and very wide spread, we had a hard time getting where we need to go because of the roads being flooded every where, we found most of the government help went to the big city's so the little towns were on there own, so we just stopped and helped in the two small towns in Texas we managed to make it to, Cypress lake and Orange Texas most of the boats we saw were outboards or boats with mud motors on them we saw very few Airboat's where we were at, the thing that was totally different in Texas from New Orleans was all the locals were working together to help one another and we saw zero looting even though there were reports of that going on, in New Orleans there was looting going on everywhere and constant gunfire and everyone was a victim over there not the Case in Texas

Glad to hear you were able to help.
Interesting to hear the lack of looting. I am of the understanding that in Texas, a looter can be legally shot dead. Please, correct me in how I am wrong. I am recalling a popular 911 call and the outcome of the trial. If I am correct, this makes a compelling argument for the effectiveness of that legislation, especially in time of crisis.

Mojo; I remember a news story in Texas a while back where a guy pulled up to a McDonald's drive thru window and told the girl to give him all the money, she reached like she was getting the money and pulled a pistol and shot his ass . She had a concealed to carry and is a hero in Texas.
