anyone have a good source for conversion U- joints?

Postby goldhunter_2 » Mon Apr 09, 2018 3:08 pm

Does anyone have a good source for conversion U- joints? (two different size caps)

I need to go from a Kodiak drive shaft caps are 1.388" diameter and overall width cap to cap is 4.2035"
and I need to go to a Dodge 2500 yoke caps are 1.184" diameter and overall width cap to cap is 4.2035"

ya it should be simple to find stuff like this :banghead: but those yahoo's they have working are the auto parts places now days and even miller bearing are just plain frustrating when you try to tell them your joining two different parts and not a stock oem application it just blows there mind :angry5:

Total Truck Parts in West Palm, they'll have what you need. They carry Spicer joints, I prefer them over the others.

Years ago you could go to NAPA and get what you needed. Unfortunately, the people they hire in the parts stores now got their education from playing video games and have no idea about parts. Most of them couldn't even tell you what a U-joint is. If they don't have a parts number, they're lost.
And it's not just the parts stores either, everywhere I go I get screwed over by idiots. :banghead:
Hope the folks at Total Truck Parts can fix you up.

What are you using to measure with? I'm not seeing any of those dimensions in my catalog.

Flcracker9, when I looked up number I saw they had a place up in fort pierce to , they out of stock but have some coming ....... man it was nice to talk to someone who actual know what they where talking about for a change ...lol
It ended up being a combination/conversion U-joint 1410 to 1480

Not familiar with the Ft Pierce store, but the West Palm store folks are very knowledgeable. Usually have any u-joint you can imagine, and the means to look them up and cross reference them.

Fort pierce store is a good old school parts store. Dont need the VIN# or part number# to punch in a computer.
