Via the rumor mill I've heard they are closing it in the next 2 weeks. Anyone else hear this?

Yes I heard the same thing that it will be closing in the next week or so unless a miracle happens and it stops raining from now to then. I'm sure not holding my breath on that because it's supposed to storm for the the next 3 or so days. The water is coming up fast. It's coming in as fast as it can be let out. It will stop being flowed south through the park here soon because of the damn sea side sparrow nesting season. We will be in the same spot we were last year. The water in area 2A is only a few inches lower than it was after the hurricane, that should tell you something right there. This is going to be a trend once they get done doing what they are doing with the water flow. The Everglades will now hold a lot more water year around. With the amount of water they are planning on holding in the glades now it won't take much rain every year before it will be closed.

Scotty you have to remember that most of Indian Land is on a natural higher ridge. You have to go east from the Cypress Forest and it will show you a much different picture. There is many deer to the East Between camp 9 1/2 all the way to Duck Camp. I've seen them with my own eyes. Believe me I know it sucks. It sucks for me, now everyone will be riding 2A (lol) because of this but there isn't anything we can do unfortunately.

Here is the close as of yesterday at 2400 (11pm). Area 3 got pounded with rain today but we will have to wait until later to see how much.

:rebel: I am in the camp in the reservation now and the water on our water gauge pipe at camp is exactly the same elevation as it was 10 days ago when I left :rebel:

:rebel: I don’t know why things are like this but if anything the water has dropped maybe 1/4 of an inch here in the reservation it’s definitely not rise in :rebel:

It's dropped about 4 inches in 2A in the last few days. The reason is we are not getting any rain in town. Thank God for that. As long as we don't get a lot of rain in the city we will keep dropping little by little.

And I highly doubt FWC will lift the closure. If it's closed they don't have to work & spend money.

Duece they will and have to once the gauges read below the closer mark. There is no longer 90 or 30 day closers. It's now on a day by day bases. They are still patrolling no matter if it's closed or not. They are still spending the same amount of money even when it's closed. The difference is they are not making as much money because less tickets they are writing which is revenue for them.

Then why close it in the first place? Are they mandated? Would love to see it if that's true. Most government agencies I deal with want to do as little as possible and get paid, I don't see why FWC is any different. You're also telling me, that if it's closed on 4th of July, that they will need as many officers to patrol as if it were open? I can't see that. More people = more officers from my experience. I have no doubt they are patrolling it, how much is the point I think is debatable.
