Good deal. Fished the SKA for 5 yrs. Yellowfin all the way. Fished a 34 YF & 36 invincible. No comparison even btw those 2. Wish I knew u were sorta in the market. Buddy just sold his 36 YF with trip 300.

I'm not looking for a 36. I want something I can comfortably tow. Most likely a 32, maybe a 29, a 34 if it were a steal. Plus, I don't want to be feeding triples, if you know what I mean.

I don't think Rich realizes the commercial market vs the rec market vs the end user market!

Very easy to ask this question from someone that's never built a high end anything?
Hell, Brand new 0540's are 125k alone, justify that, if you can fly without it?

Big block-small block in any newer fashion are 20 alone for almost basic 500 hp on pump junk. Yes you could buy a whites for half the price and get half way their or back............
One way tickets are for sale all over the place!
Of course the 70k price tag goes to the guy or lady that does not need bearing service on a Saturday night or a jump on sunday morning.
Granted new stuff is sky rocketing, but 70k is realistic! Did you see the 138k diamond back or junk out of Kansas for 80k owners selling for 60 a month later?
The high end builder can anytime not, the low end builder can always struggle. Why Kansas sells boats here is beyond me and who fixes them?

Golley, I ran to death a SBC that made impressive power for less than 10k, rebuilt it with a new Dart Block and still didnt break 20k

But anyway, Im planning to build a 540 boat and when im done ill post up pics and how much I spent...thats unless I buy one I have en eye on

They say theirs a sucker for every seat for sale...same must be true for a 138k airboat but some people got it like that...or pretend they do!
I'll have my Manatee burger medium please...just say NObama

The same goes for trucks, houses, boats, etc. You can drive a $2500 beater or a new 70k diesel just how much you choose to spend and how much fixing up you want to do and how much function, performance and dependability mean to you and your family. I am not as mechanically inclined as most if you and dont have lots of free time, space or proper tools so I would have no problem spending 70k on a boat. 95% of my families free time/enjoyment revolves around a boat so I want it to be ready when I am and to get me out and back every time, I dont want to be the guy calling for tow at 3am.

I'm not trying to say that at all. Hell, if I could find my old 76 chevy half ton with a stock 350 that smoked it's tires any day of the week, I would! Friday build vs a Monday build.

Your asking what to expect from other peoples dollar and it really can't be compared. Seen a lot of junk from 30-70 all window dressing and others on a budget make them high dollar rigs need some Clorox for tiger stripped panties.
Welcome to the world of anybody with excess money that wants to airboat for 80k, can!
Yep, You heard that correct! The market is moving to totally built at any expense for the dollar.
Just wait til some try saltwater with tri gas mix on raw polished stainless? What a mess of a pricey build even builders don't realize yet!

I'm doing it and I tell you why. If I had more time (I run my own business as well as coach high school football, plus manage several properties) I'd build my own, or buy some fixer upper and go all the time that way I knew it ran etc. However, that isn't my deal. When I go it's for a rare weekend when I don't have something to do and I want a boat I can go out and hit the key and it cranks. I shelled out the money back in 2005 for a Diamondback that has done that and is still doing that to this day, but she's getting tired and it's time to upgrade. 70k is what it takes to upgrade to what I want. I've worked hard my whole life and I'm going to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Money isn't real fellas, we only think it is. And the other thing is, where we're all headed you can't take it with you. Am I going to be nervous driving 70k around in the swamp, maybe a little, but that's what Jack Daniels is for!

I will say this, I'm going to sell my old boat, and from what I've been told I'll be able to ask the same price I paid for it. However, due to the time value of money, 25,000 today isn't what 25,000 20 years ago was.

Hell, your “basic” riveted glades boat with a nice 540 is going to cost you around 40k these days. That’s built brand new from scratch with all good quality parts. Not including getting crazy with paint, light bars, etc. Sure, you can do it a little cheaper if you build your own rigging, or buy a used motor, etc. But a brand new Benny Webb or Al David boat with a fresh built 540 from a renowned aircraft mechanic is going to be around 40k or more after you paint it, wire it, and put it on a new trailer. It ain’t a cheap hobby. Those 70k boats usually have sea deck, custom gauge panels, stainless cages, etc. I can absolutely see how one would cost that much. I’ve been airboating since the late 80s when I was a little kid with my stepfather. I remember the days when 10K bought you a nice boat, and 15K bought you one of the baddest boats in the glades. But those days are long gone.

I see exactly where your coming from Deuce. But if I spent that kind of money on an Airboat to go where most go your right, Me and Jack Daniels would have to take it out together for I couldn't do it alone.LOL

I must be odd man out here cause I got 55k in a turn key Hamant and I’m not SCARED to follow most anyone or go most anywhere, I’ve been in the stumps, briars, trees matter of fact I went THRU a dead tree this year at freedom ride and broke oil filler tube in half. I don’t have the extra time or knowledge to scratch build a boat or buy used and start tweaking, tweaking cost a lot also without the knowledge. I have 2 friends that’s done the same with buying turn key ones been a little unlucky and got the boat scars to show for it, I was blessed to put half down ( 10% required) and me and bank own the rest of it. So not all sit and Stare at their boat in the driveway. I’m not offended by your statement but just sayin....
