Got my prop back from warp drive after having the nickel leading edges added. I adjusted the pitch from 12 degrees to 9 degrees and It has tons of power. I may still play with it some more. I made a slider instead of a roller out of some high density plastic for the spring loaded tensioner which has made the whole system run a lot smoother. The roller wanted to bounce on the chain a lot and the slider doesn't. I am waiting on getting my electric panel changed out so I can use my welder to get started on the solid grass rake but I installed the old pipe rake for the time being.

I’ll work on getting some video up soon. In the mean time I started mocking up a dog leg adjustable trim tab.

You did a hell of a job on this build I'm very impressed, what was the final sprocket size you used and what gear did you use on the motor 2nd ? also what is your cruse RPM on the motor ? awesome job the boat seems to preform very well

May not have to if use a modern chain. Ran ATV in Florida sand for years and years with zero lube. Adding lube killed their service life and ate up sprockets too.

I don't know what the owner is using, but, just a thought.

Thank you Sniper! If I recall correctly it’s an 18T on the transmission output shaft to a 21T on the prop shaft. I run the bike in 2nd gear. I had crunched some numbers and that should have me around 3000rpm max. The engine redlines at 13,500rpm. I started with 9 degrees of pitch and was only getting about 8500rpms. I dropped it to 7 degrees and the performance running dry went way up. Still only getting about 9500rpms WOT but it runs dry like a champ. I will probably work on that some more. It will start running dry between 5500 & 6500rpms and then it’s starts getting really fast after that to where you have to feather the throttle. Same rpms it’s cruising 20mph in deep water and in the shallows it doesn’t take much more than idle to maintain that kind of speed. You have to feather it quite a bit in the shallows to keep from getting stupid.

Like Russ said, I don’t really live the chain. It’s an O-ring motorcycle chain. If you use anything greasy and sticky crud will collect and start wearing stuff out. If anything I will just hit it with some WD-40 to keep it from rusting.

What you have done may be a game changer for small Airboats, the motorcycle motors out now a day produce a lot of hp with out a lot a weight the GSXR Suzuki motors and the Hyabosa motors plus Yamaha and Kawasaki all have high HP motors that are very reliable and bought cheap from a wrecked bike and there are plenty of crashed sport bikes around

Thank you Sniper. I am really excited to see where this is going to go for all the reasons that you mentioned. A few others have made some really amazing boats. I am glad I tried to document the build and show how accessible a really well performing boat is to someone with a welder, a little time, not a lot of money and a little imagination. I kept receipts and at some point I might tally up my costs but i still need to finish the boat.
