Replacing fuel lines

Hey guys I have some old nasty fuel lines that I'm going to replace before they burn me. I have rubber lines held to barbs w/ hose clamps right now and I'm good with that setup. What material (and who sells it) should I buy?

I run standard automotive rubber fuel line that I purchase from NAPA

USCG type A1. It is fire resistant and ethanol rated. If run in enclosed spaces it is supposed to be A1-15 which adds low permeability. Any marine store will carry it and unless it’s old stock it will be -15.

What fuel do you run? Avgas eat ethanol fuel lines up. Now I don't run ethanol in my boats at all so auto store fuel line is the best.

I'm interested to know if you have details on the fuel line you had an issue with? I run 100LL with Type A1 fuel hose with no issues. As far as I know all the stuff the auto parts stores sell these days is ethanol compatible as standard since that's the fuel used in autos. Type A1 is made of NBR / Buna-N which is a synthetic rubber used for all types of fuels, same as the auto parts hoses. Just checked Aircraft Spruce and the stuff they sell is NBR too. A1 just has a heavier jacket, larger OD that I find it more durable. It's more costly, but an airboat is still a boat, subject to USGC regs, for what it's worth.

The fuel line was blue specificly made for ethanole I bought it from a Marine store.

Reason I don't run that hose is in the past I have seen the inner liner separate from the hose and collapse. Hose looks good but the inner will be unable to pass fuel.

Just my reasons as to selection

Maybe they got better with it but the grey hose was the worst.

This same exact thing has happened to me with both the blue and grey marine hoses.

X3 on the gray that comes with the primer bulbs kits for me too. I am not sure what that cheap gray fuel hose is rated for since it does not handle any type of fuel well, so I am not sure what it's purpose is

On my kicker boats I cut it off the bulb kits and replace with good hose. I'm not sure why the Coast Guard even let's them sell that stuff except they don't really regulate temporary deck tank fuel systems.

I 100% agree with John on the Push Loc hose for hot, high pressure oil lines, including my Auto transmission circuit on the buggy. The only issue with it is you will never get the hose back off the Push Loc fitting without a razor knife, so it is always good to plumb in extra length for the future.

AN lines are the only way to go, little more cost , but well worth it in the long run!!!
