Post by White Hawk »

I have not read so much about the Sensenich JX so if anyone is running them what pitch and what WOT RPM are you running them at?

3 blade 82" jx with a 2.55ox 600hp stroked ls3. 5900rpm max think it's just past the 2 mark. It takes some power to spin the jx.

edited after i look at the prop :)

I am almost back on the water. I dropped a 2.68 into the boat with a LS418 for power. When I dial my boat in I am going to set the pitch to keep my WOT at around 5600. I will update what degree it ends up at Im going to start at 24 to 26 degrees and dial it in from there. It is pushing an 82"JX.

Two 78 jx behind a pumped v6 on a 268 gear at 21.
Love them and totally american, No whop like the s blades and cut 80% better for torque roll vs S blades
Not grand at 6000 or over, prefer 52 or 5300 behind a 268 in mid to low 20's

I ran the JX at a WOT of 5600 and 5400 with a 2.68 gearbox. I honestly feel as though the boat performed better with the WOT set to 5400. Its an 82 JX and the prop rpm is 2014 at 5400 and 2089 at 5600. I felt like I was moving noticeably less wind at with 2 degrees less pitch and the higher tip speed. I am going to add back the two degrees and let it ride at 5400. The loss of push was noticeable across the whole rpm range with less pitch. I love the prop so far!

I know its not one of those car motors but I run that prop on a GSO 480 with great results. But it should perform better if you can reach 2450 rpm's.

As mentioned in a few past postings we got to test a friends 4 blade JX on our boat. The blades were the race version of the JX. For several days we put this blade package through some testing mated to a Branch 555 inch roller Cadillac with OX drive. The blades did everything we asked them to do and were very responsive. Compared to the "S" blades which are heavier and wider the JX set up was very snappy and sporty. The thing that we took away from our testing was that the JX acted much like a hot rod car with a "stall" converter. While we had no shortage of torque or gear the S blades seem to have more lateral and uniform bite. The JX would "spool" and then load giving the user a more delayed thrust response. This is a seat of the pants observation but the persons riding on the boat and observers all noticed and commented that the large and heavily loaded boat acted much sportier. Our observation found that with pitch added they worked very well even at lower blade rpm.

My advice would be to tune your pitch setting to your engines output and your needed result. If gear ratio and engine power output allow you to turn them a little slower then go with what works.

I ran my 82 three blade JX with a 2.68 box at 5200 for a day. My cruise speed was outstanding but I can feel the sweet spot at 5400. I am going to pull some pitch and let them eat with the wot set 5400-5500. It was noticeable how much faster the prop spooled up when the WOT was set on the 5400 mark.
