Watch Your Step

Postby digginfool » Sat Jun 27, 2015 4:06 am

A lot of the talk that goes on about airboat safety deals with the operation of the vehicle. We had a near tragedy tonight when we got back to the landing. My wife missed her step and fell from the boat while it was on the trailer. It was about a 7 foot fall and she landed face first onto a rock. Thankfully, no serious injuries but she will be a hurting puppy tomorrow. Lots of swelling and a hell of a scrape on her face and shoulder. Be careful all the way until you're home. A moment of carelessness can ruin an otherwise great day.

Airboat experience so far, limited to having bolted a gyrocopter to a flat bottom punt.... but THAT.... is about to change, bigtime :-)

Wow! I hate to hear about these accidents. I've taken a few falls myself and even a small one hurts. Sawgrass Park has a lady captain out of work now from a fall on her boat. Broke 3 ribs. Best wishes to all the injured.

Most of us are not kids any more. It tends to take longer to heal from a fall, etc. Not to mention we have all grown taller. I know this to be true because last time I took a spill it seemed a lot further to the ground and hurt twice as much.
Get well soon Mrs. Diggin

Sorry to hear that, but glad she's gonna be ok! Some of you got to witness it, but I had a passenger on the heroes ride, that fell off my rigging twice (after a few too many cocktails). My rigging is pretty high being a hunt boat, and I know landing on the T-bars can't feel good, bet she was hurting the next day also. Like Digging said, it's the little things that can reach out and getcha!
