trying to pull gearbox off locked up motor

Hey guys, looking for tips or tricks you can spit out. Trying to undo bolts that hold gearbox flywheel to engine flywheel. Engine won't roll over. I can get 3 bolts out of bottom. Thats where I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated :shock:
 
Only thing I can think of is to pull the oil pan and disconnect the rods from the crank.. Good luck
 
No water or milky substance on the dip stick. It was running fine; then the Pcv blew out and the dip stick blew out.?? I coasted it into the boat ramp running ruff as hell, but still running. When I killed the engine. Stuck! Froze
 
May unhook the rods and unbolt the crank. Take box and crank down together?
 
You don't have to tear your engine apart. With the engine still bolted to the engine stand, take a hammer and punch and from the engine side, drive the 2 transmission alignment pins out the back of the gear case. Now pull the engine and gear box off the engine stand. Take the bolts out of the gear case and the gear box will rotate where you can get your flex to torque plate bolts out.

Thanks Chuck. I'll work on that first light. Got cage ready to pull 1st thing, then I can come-a-long the whole thing outta there to work on it on the ground. Thanks again Don
 
Did this happen today? I was up in Horseshoe Lake off of Cedar Creek this morning and heard another blow boat coming from Sargent area back to Bernard. Was that you??

Oh you just made my short list!!! :angry5: Several year back when I blew that new Caddy engine I was testing I had hell getting my gear box off. We took air chisels to the piston and a cutting torch to the crank. Talk about a freaking mess, we had fires, metal chunks and busted knuckles. I was so mad about that engine that when I called the builder he just said " hey how about I give you your money back". I offered to stab him in the chest with the cam shaft. 1 hour on a new engine and it drops a valve, takes out the piston, block, crank, camshaft, and cylinder heads.
 
trust me you can do it get a long wrench i don't no if all brands work but i know the snap on and matco thin long ones fit but take the flywheel bolts out and be patient it's a long process because you can only get a little at at time but i've done it on a catty motor so i know it can be done and it'll be easier if you take out the bolts you can on the soft drive good luck
