Run 600hp AirBoat to hell on ice

Hi there!
We made carbon hull 600hp airboat (19 ft hull, 8.5 ft beam, ~1,740 lbs.) and run it to 100mph on ice. But our pilot - professional car racer was afraid to go faster as it was very unstable. So we want to try a remote control to go further on.

Does anybody have experience to run same design boat faster?
Or maybe there is some no brakes, no brains pilot? LOL

we have time before december-january when ice will be thick enough. i think we make a remote control, attache side sliding supports and try to prepare ideal ice track.

Why don't you get rid of the rudders and feed it 2 gallons and wait for it to slide to a stop, starving and very lean? Assuming that chase car can do 100?
I'll attempt to get it to break our school zone restrictions in water if you want to bring it down!

Hey here's a thought!
Drop it from 20,000 feet and see if can hit 125 terminal velocity? Maybe Tom Cruise chase it down and make a movie of driving it into everglades to save a hot chick and IDK maybe a rare duck or something

good idea about lean. we also can get rid of extra seats (now we have 3). But really this weight means nothing. There is more power in it now even with this weight that is possible to run faster. We maybe even can add metal plates on the bottom to get an additional low center of gravity

And we could bring it. But there is one small issue LOL we are located in Russia, Samara, on Volga river. but if you come I get stars and stripes from out attic to meet you in the airport

i am not sure if I can add here a link to youtube to show how it runs

maybe find a redneck and hold his beer.
In Russia its "The Crazy Ivan".

Post some video of the chicken out, anything recent on ICE is bull crap unless your compass just spins (like at the N. Pole). Personally, I'm gonna make my speed on that brown grass with ice crystals in the background.

Saw grass is slick as snot going one way and way softer than ICE to land in. But once you stop you got a standoff.

I feel trolled an dirty now :D

Looks like a movie stunt and no clue why when carbon is so easy to fake now days? But you might be on to a thought of ice ski's keeping that tank going straight vs rudders?

In relation my 12-6 JW with real honest gm gen v lt1 stock is fun! Your post eludes me of all that carbon and 1700# hull to break 101 on ice?
I think a simple bottle rocket could bust your goals for 50 cents, but your not sharing that tanks goals yet on ice? 1700# hull is a tank regardless on ice or water for an airboat! I'm missing the crane mount in it somewhere?

Attempt to hold a single seat at 45mph and realize it's push against you and then triple it at 100 and try to just hint it a couple degrees off perfect? but let go when it drags you wonkie ? Not much of airboats are 100 proof other than the captains!

sorry buddy, I was studding English in KGB school at communist era LOL so I can miss meaning of your text. What you mean by "easy to fake carbon"? we have carbon production since 2009, making a lot for Bently. Mercedes, BMW etc and other shit. So when we got an order to make airboat we also made it from carbon - our first airboat. and some of our carbon are running on cars in USA

1700# is not a hull - its total weight of the boat with engines etc. in Russian ist 790 kg. I think not a big weight as our water motor yachts of 27 feet can be about 7000 lb with engines. and can make 59 mph. so tell me in simple english like to indian man LOL what you mean LOL

To tell you frankly: I was riding airboat only once in my life – like teenager passenger in some shit airboat which transported villagers to the other side of the river in winter LOL I’ve joined this team few months ago, so I myself will get a chance to ride this boat in few months when its ice on river. Or maybe earlier if we put it on water. My ass used to be on bikes, so I can feel what means 150-180mph (and feel it on shit Russian road that looks like with bomb craters all over)) but until recently I didn’t get any idea about airboat speed. So I thought that 100 mph is not too much LOL now I see that such boat has small control. But as my job in the team to lead guys to the lights at the end of tunnel, I want to break limits and make it to run faster. I think about the idea to change a carbon hull itself and make some wings that will press the boat down.

BTW if you have a crazy idea to make adventure trip here and take some part in it you are welcome. We have 5 star hotels and no bears on the street (in day time) LOL

Seems a fun thread to reply to,, if the hull design is properly thought out, the inner structure to hold back the torque plus the abuse the ice will give it, "may want some flex" it could be quite the ride, not to mention a very hefty brake or pair of brakes to slow or even help turn,, skeg up front as in ice skate to help steer.

it was first experience. I think there are some mistakes in hull design. but control of the direction is the biggest issue.

GREAT Video! I assume the car is front wheel drive with studs on front and summer tires on the rear. Certainly nice Carbon Fiber work, I would have it so bashed up in no time.

Can you post more details on the UHMW or other plastic system used on the bottom. It's something like overlapped fish scales, same theory as a stepped hull on steroids?
