Curious as to why you have the electric pump pulling through the pre filter rather than pushing through it. I have always found those electric pumps don’t like to pull as mush as they like to push.

Racor filters are only rated for suction side water separation. Think about it, every outboard out there has a diaphragm lift pump to pull fuel through the Racor, that's what they were designed to do. If you put them on the pressure side they filter the crap out but don't do as good of a job on water. That said, you can put the Racor between the electric and the mechanical because you are normally running the mechanical.

I have switched to FST filters on the pressure side for fuel injected systems. FST swears they work just as well for water on the suction or the pressure side. Just make sure your pumps have some kind of 100 micron screen prior to keep the rocks out. The Facet Gold Flo that Gary recommended has a filter screen built into the inlet and works well.
