220 gpu oil pan

I bought this motor off a guy who says it was a complete rebuild 4-4 years ago and sat in his garage the whole time. My question is it has a different oil pan then the rest of the gpus I’ve seen . Any body familiar with it and how many qts of oil I should be running. I ran 10 and didn’t seem to be happy78996395890__D8D386BD-EF54-4159-99D8-B74C92DD7AAE.jpeg

It is cut down to lighten it, 10 qts should be good, now,, if you want, the full level is once it reaches the dipstick adapter fitting height, the only thing I question is if the pan is baffled to hold back slosh away from the pickup tube.
Elaborate a bit on how it didn't seem to be happy?!
 
In all honesty he said it was blowing out the vent tube. I find it hard to believe. It’s my buddy’s boat he made this post on my account. I put it in for him and he says it was blowing out the vents but I started it at the shop and it ran like a sewing machine. I do know I had to put a mage gear in it and it had a few leaks that I sealed up. He broke off a heli coil on the front cover and didn’t cover it back up. I know it blew oil out of there but I’m not completely sure as I wasn’t there. But he seems to think it was way over full on oil which I don’t believe as I only put 10 qaurts in it seeing the pan was definitely cut. But was wondering if anybody had more info. He says he has info from a builder saying his buddies 220 only holds 8 with a stock pan. I call bs. But at this point I could just be a dummy.
 
He says they told him it’s should only be half way up the sight tube which is like 5 1/2 qaurts does that seem right? If so seems like your asking to run it hot

Some GPU’s I have known to like 7qts of oil fill level

More than that would just Blow out the Vent

Try putting 8 in your engine
Take note of where that lands on the dipstick after a 1 min crank up and shut down.

Take it out and run it for a hard ride, and see where it’s at on the stick after 1 ride

It may blow out that 8th quart and get down to about 7 in the crankcase

If the oil level don’t change after the above process, try putting 9 in and see what happens

Figure out how many qts it will take to be happy,
Without blowing the oil out.
