435 with 480 cylinders

Has anyone tried this combination? Boring out the crankcase and installing 480 cylinders should make a few more ponies out of this over weight engine. Were there any problems with the crankcase failing after this conversion? I think I can pick up a core engine fairly cheap and may try this.Any in put would be helpful.

You are right 0435's are cheep , and bottom ends are tough. I am in the process of building two now , cases bored and ready for the next step . My (best guess) would be between 230 to 240 hp when complete.

I'd do it in a heartbeat! If there was one other I could pull off would be TSIO360 jugs on a C90 case but the spread is too big on the cyl. for the thru studs. Bout the closest I can come up with is an O235 case but haven't checked.

I have built 2 one with 480 cyl. sold it to build 540, just built one with straight valve 0-320 cyl. both are stout I love mine put it on a gore boat put more meat in the freezer this year then I ever have with a boat,

I have an O 435 with 480 jugs and angle valve 540 pistons. I have not run it yet but it's going on a brand new 12' Jimmy White step and I hope she will run good.

Everyone asks me what the engine is equivalent too and what the horsepower is and I don't know.
I'm guessing somewhere around 260 hp
