very nice rig, how much does something like that go for, 50k+. i'm asking cuz i really don't know. isn't that a 572? do you talk gallons per mile? here is a little vid showing that there really is no turbo lag even spinning a big single.

It does get up and go. Nice job. Truth be told I would like to see people getting into the diesel motors. I would think they would be alot more economical than a gas motor. Just haven't been impress with what GTO and Panther has done with the diesel that has over a 100k price tag. :?

I no where theres a 12v up north for sale for $8500 turn key an it makes 1300hp at 5500rpm , you would need is a belt box an a big prop an youd have a bad ass diesel boat..

Duckyager is a prime example do what u want with what u got. From what alot of people said that big of a boat with a duramax shouldn't be able to run on level ground let alone come up out of the water and up the hill like that. Looked pretty impressive to me.

when researching this i talked to an engineer who builds diesel aircraft engines. he explained that the reason why diesels are hard on propellers is because of the high detonation shock load. without being an engineer i would still bet that that load is higher on a 6 cyl motor vs an 8. i'm running a stinger gear box and it has done great so far. i'm actually going to send it down to fla soon. thanks to my own operator error and dopey engineeing on the motor mounts i broke some stuff and it nicked the gearbox case. so while they fix that they'll look inside and see how the gears and such look, which i'm sure will be fine. it would be interesting to see if a gearbox could survive a big hp 6 banger. in the scant stories i've read of big power 5.9 boats they were chewing up belts. don't know the exacts of it but would love to see it pursued futher. i know you want a big old wide hull for it and if money were not an object a counter rotater would be helpful. i know when i mash mine that torgue wants to spin the 8 foot wide hull.

GIMAMMOTH,

Go for it and piss on all the nay sayers. I have talked about a Cummins powered rig for quite some time but don't
have the time or money at this point. You can get the EGT's down if you water methanol inject it. Keep us posted
I would love to see you prove all these cry babies wrong. :toothy7: :salute:

heck yea GIMAMMOTH, go for it and if i could ever be of any help don't hesitate to contact me.

as for the water meth injection i looked at it but my truck pullin buddy explained it to me this way. if your in a certain pulling/racing class and are restricted by the size of the turbo then the injection is a viable option to help control egt's. however, not being limited by that i put a big turbo on it to move more air. did everything i could to reduce back pressure and help airflow. bottom line is it seems to work pretty good. it gets warm obviously when you mash it but my pullin buddy says it's fine. (these are guys that blow up motors for a living) the turbo i'm running is good to about 1200hp on the pullin trucks, obviously with a bunch of other mods but you get the picture. rarely have to give it the beans anyway unless runnin dry and loaded.
